We visited in August and stayed several days before/after our whitewater rafting experience (also through Nile River Explorers). We stayed in a dorm that was clean, comfortable and safe. The camp is behind a guarded and gated entry with several bunaglows, dorms, private rooms, a common area (in the lobby) a restaurant, a bar and an open patio that overlooks...

Having traveled through much of Uganda before arriving here, a chance to chill out was appreciated. The food was good and the service comparatively quick compared to many places I stayed at. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and my group and I got to meet plenty of people on their own adventure in Uganda. The bar on Saturday is a...

We recently stayed at the Explorers Backpackers dorm for one night. The dorms were clean but empty, since we were the only three guests. Staff is friendly and helpful with any inquisitions. With 12USD the dorm rates are overpriced and the owners fail to live up to its self proclaimed "Backpackers" name.

I stayed with my sister at explorers backpackers for 2 nights in the dorm. We originally came here because the latest lonely planet states that the dorm beds are $7 each, but when we arrived the price was $12. However the place is clean and the garden is beautiful and relaxing. It's in a very nice green neighborhood just outside...

Thanks for the review. Unfortunately travel guides are only updated every 3 to 4 years so pricing can often be out of date. Sorry that you did not enjoy the food or coffee I will pass your comments on to the manager and see what we can do to improve it.

A 5 minute boda drive, or 20/25 minute walk from Jinja town, this is a clean, good value backpackers. If you want to be close to town or nightlife, stay here, but if you want to experience a great backpackers overlooking the Nile, head instead to the other NRE property, the "River Camp", about 25 minutes drive from town in...

Quiet private rooms, good shared bathroom facilities, but service very poor and arrogant. The one night we stayed we were asked not to play a game of pool at 11pm (after the staff had finally stopped occupying the pool table) because it would disturb the people in the dorms - who, we could hear, were drinking and yelling in their...
