Greeted upon arrival by Walter who was very nice and made me feel welcome. The hostel is basic but adequate. Kitchen is great. Some things could use a little TLC and/or investment, but it's par for the course with hostels. I unfortunately had a rude dorm-mate who had no concept of quiet hours, but that's the luck of the draw.

This is a residential house converted to a hostel/ student residence. The hostel has a central kitchen (fully equipped, complimentary tea, coffee and oats) and a living room, as well as several computers available for the guests. There is parking at the back yard. Staff is friendly and informative. We slept in room 3, which has a private bathroom. It...

Andy the owner and Walter the manager run a fine hostel. I temporarily lost an iPAD (completely my own fault), but they brought it back by studying the hostel's video recordings. That was a most positive experience. The hostel is also very clean thanks to a dedicated staff. Coffe and oat meal are complimentary. The location is ideal for hiking...

Great spot. Walking distance to all your needs. Clean and well taken care of. Staff were great. The only thing that was disturbing was how unsociable and entitled the residence were. I have never been snubbed so many times in two days in me life! Spoke to at least 5 people without acknowledgement. The people living there take supplies from...

Stayed in a private room with shared bath on the second floor. Clean. Love their zero-tolerance policy regarding smoking, alcohol and drugs. Felt very safe. Quiet. Very convenient location. A short walk or a much shorter bike ride to the historic Huguenot District. Served the main purpose of being an inexpensive homebase sweet homebase in New Paltz so I could...

The New Paltz Hostel, like many businesses in the town, has a whimsical character reminiscent of the "hippie days" of the past, but it is a fun, immaculate place to spend a weekend while hiking, rock climbing, or seeing the sights. The original structure, a Victorian house built in 1900, has been divided into guest rooms on the ground floor...

This hostel's a great and cheap option in New Paltz. I only stayed here one night, but it was one quiet, comfy night. Big clean bed, clean bathroom, intimate atmosphere. Right on Main Street, near great restaurants and shops. For those heading to the Metro-North station in Poughkeepsie, take the Ulster public bus. It runs seven days a week, cost...

We usually stay in chain hotels (Marriott, Aloft, etc.) and in smaller towns in B&Bs. This time around only half of us were on vacation (Parent and Teenager) and we wanted to be in a more friendly and easygoing environment and for that New Paltz Hostel was a great success. The accommodations are modest, the building in OK conditions. The...

New Paltz Hostel is literally located next to the bus stop and just a few steps away from the center of town. This makes it incredibly convenient when traveling from the City using Trailways or Greyhound and you're getting in late at night and just want to crash. The reservation process was very easy and my boyfriend and I were...
