I'm reluctant to say good things about this place only because I consider it a bit of a secret. There aren't enough superlatives to describe this place. Keep in mind that it's all about hiking, paddling, and fishing. If you're looking for connect with the element, this is the place!

We enjoyed two days for our 30th anniversary at Elk Lake Lodge. The cabin we stayed in was lovely. It had been recently updated so it was brand new inside. The food was good and the hiking was fantastic. We are looking forward to our next trip to Elk Lake Lodge. They also surprised us with a nice bottle of...

This was the first time I had been to Elk Lake. It was a very beautiful place. The cabin was clean. The view was awesome!! The workers were very friendly. If being on the water and hiking is your thing this is your place. It's not for everyone. No tv, telephone, or cell service. If you can't live without them...

The Lodge was comfortable, the people friendly, the Food outstanding....but the chance to hike into Deep woods and hear perfect Silence; Priceless! The value was there, we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations and will certainly return.

This might not be the place for everyone. I found it refreshing to find a spot with no cell service, no TV, no tourist trap shops or restaurants, yet everything you could want to Escobar, exercise and feel genuinely at one with a virtually untouched part of the country. The lodge has been there for over 100 years without much...

It's difficult to be objective about Elk Lake Lodge because it fit what we wanted so perfectly. It is a historic lodge located in a pristine, beautiful wilderness. (It is not a place to go to if you want to run to town every other day because nothing is very close in driving time.) They serve three meals a day:...

This was this Louisiana native's first time in the Adirondacks. We first stopped in Lake George which made us feel like we had stepped back in the 1950s or 60s. As you drive up the 9N along Lake George it is a lovely drive on a winding road with views of the lake here and there. We stayed at Elk...

This was our first time here. We very much enjoyed spending a few quiet, relaxing days at Elk Lake Lodge. We stayed in one of the two upstairs suites at the Emerson cottage (which is also called Big Darling.) The cottage itself is nicely done. I suspect it has been fairly recently renovated. Everything was in great shape and very...

Our fifth stay at Elk Lake took our breaths away as much as the first! This is a place for slow or strenuous hikers and paddlers, or those who just want an Adirondacks chair and good book. The dining room serves all-American fare, from blueberry pancakes to New York strips. Choice of two or three main courses per evening, which...

What a gorgeous, restful, tranquil, serene (etc., etc.) place. We stayed in Windfall Cottage, which was pricey for just two people but 100% worth it for the incredible views and privacy -- just what we wanted (and needed!) to unwind from the wonderful madness of our wedding. As other people have mentioned, this is not a place to expect culinary...
