Fantastic experience

A fantastic place ,new decor very clean and welcoming, Lovely staff and helpful. We all enjoyed our food and well served and prompt A great hotel and restaurant Keep up the fantastic work all ,we are all too happy to moan but we MUST also be grateful and positive.

One night stay

Room VERY small. No blinds on bathroom window -frosted glass felt vulnerable as it faced car park Needs blinds Steak and ale pie needs renamed gravy pie Dessert menu didn’t happen Gave up waiting in end Asked for Port at bar. Said they had none that they could sell as only sold Taylor’s but bottle of Cockburns could be seen but couldn’t sell that ! Breakfast ok

Zero customer service

I had a really bad experience with the Riverside Hotel. I book here once every month for business. I was given a room where the central heating not working. They don’t answer the reception phone what’s so ever. I had to get dressed after a long day of travel and working, to the reception to ask for help. They say it will work but give it time. 4 hrs later the room still freezing, again they never answer the reception phone. Again I have to change and go down to beg for help. I was given a fan heater with zero empathy or apology from the receptionist. I went to have a shower, the shower handle was broken . That’s the worst customer service I ever encountered in the hospitality industry.

Hi Rousha, Thank you for taking the time to leave an additional review. Upon checking our control panel in the evening after bringing this to our attention, the room temperature was reading at 26.9 degrees and the maximum our heating goes to is 28 degrees. The additional heater was provided and I apologies if my delivery didn't come across as empathic. We do apologise for the heating issue, this is being looked into. The phone number provided in the rooms is an out of hours mobile, and is used by our night porter. During service hours, this device is not used. This is discussed with you upon check in. It's no good having a nice place to eat if the food isn't good.

My family and I were looking forward to a nice meal. I ordered the 30day 10oz ribeye, but unfortunately there wasn't any. ( Every time I come here there is always something missing off the menu) so as I wanted a steak the next choice was the 8oz sirloin. I've got to say it was the worse steak I've ever had, it was full of gristle, very chewy and tough and certainly not worth the money. I complained and all I got was "Sorry about that" I wished I'd had words with the chef or manager but it would have been to embarrassing for the rest of my family. Needless to say I won't be eating at this restaurant again, and I will definitely not be recommending it to any of my friends.

HI 51regb Thank you for taking the time out of your day to leave us a review. Its sad to read that we did not give you the 5 star treatment we strive to give all of our guest. A training issue has been highlight and for that I thank you, as all team are trained on on complaint reconciliation it clearly has not hit home with some and that is most certainly not how. There would have been no embarrassment what so ever, wish you would have had words with management as we would have been able to rectify the issue then and there. As per items being sold out, unfortunately we are are the mercy of our guests, some items we just cant keep on no matter how much we order in. We hope that in due time you have a change of heart and will decide to give us a second chance. If not wishing you nothing but peace and prosperity for the rest of the year. Lovely setting.

Visited here for Sunday lunch with the family. Place has a lovely setting next to the river. On arrival was greeted by a polite and pleasant young lady who showed us to our table. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and is nice and clean and spacious. The waiting staff are very helpful and polite. Our meals all came out together and where nice, have had better but still enjoyable. There is a good selection of drinks at the bar. All in all a pleasant experience and will be returning in the summer to sit out on the patio.

baby shower party/meal outstanding service and day

Wanted to pop a review on here to say how impressed I was yesterday after spending the afternoon for my baby shower. So we booked the riverside for a meal for my baby shower for 28 people it was all so efficient to book and the manger couldn’t of been any more helpful if she tried. On arrival we were out in the function room this was a lovely surprise we could enjoy the afternoon play games and not annoy any other guests dining. They set the tables lovely and dressed them with white table cloths. Once we added our decor to the room it looked amazing. The staff were so helpful and on hand all day taking drink orders and serving the meals. The food was outstanding everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and commented how nice it was. The pate started came with a huge pot of pate and one piece of toast everyone had more than half pate left and no toast so so Some asked and plates of toast were brought in no problem straight away. For a big food food order it was served quickly and efficiently. Everyone was very impressed. If you want a small function they partition off a section of the function room so it’s a lovely room for little occasions. Thank you to all of the team that helped plan and deliver yesterday !…

Cracking smart hotel

Stayed for one night when attending a friends party in nearby Burton on Trent. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as out at the party, but had a drink and sharing platter in the bar upon arrival and the best full English breakfast I have had the following morning! My wife had the Sundae Brunch which was equally good. We were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff upon arrival and throughout. Although not huge, our room was very smart and comfortable, with the best guest drink tray I had encountered. Bed very comfy. TV large modern and sharp. The bathroom was a delight. Car park huge. Full marks all round!

Assesable

Stayed at the Riverside last night when booking I booked a accessible room as I have arthritis and my husband is having treatment for cancer when we arrived booked in they gave us room 8 lovely room clean nicely decorated went to bathroom and there was a step up to bathroom said to hubby do you think you will be able to cope with just the one step yeah he said it's just for one night we managed with a struggle this morning went to have a shower shower was over bath mmm no grab rails or anything to hold onto so no shower when we checked out I asked about the room and she said sorry about that you should have asked for room one when you checked in if you stay with us again ask .. I didn't think I should have asked after booking room and asking for accessable room.

Meal for 2

Came with my wife on a Friday evening for a meal. We had to wait a little while for our table which we had booked for 7 but that wasn’t a problem. We both had fish and chips which were nice but could have had a few more chips. The service from the waitress was excellent. She has worked there for many years behind the bar. She is a credit to The Riverside. Always friendly and helpful. Thank you.

Great service and accomadation

I stayed here in December after their refurb. The room was excellent - I couldn't fault the decor, comfort or facilities. We had dinner here which was great with really friendly and attentive service. The following morning, despite arriving just after 9am they kept the kitchen open to provide me with a cooked breakfast. Thank you.
