Once the country’s borders opened on October 1st, we flew to Mauritius for some R&R. If we did not to cook, we drove to a selection of restaurants along the coastline. In the village ate street vendors who sell tasty foods not very expensive. For instance, we fed 6 grownups for $6 at lunch today with dholl pourries. Alternatively, the caretakers will prepare typical Mauritian meals on demand. We’ve enjoyed just sitting and reading under the banyan tree or gazing at the fishing boats coming home. If you go to the pier right there early enough you can buy the catch of the day. Few places retain the charm of a fishing village like Grand Gaube. If you seek authenticity and personal attention, this is it. Go beyond big resorts and enjoy a new experience.
The villa is very nice and comfy with an amazing an stunning view. Best week end I had so far. We enjoyed the pool so much and it was very relaxing. The villa has a nice garden and it is very quiet. The staff members are so helpful. A big thanks to Jennifer and Josian these people are a gem.
Bianna & Jennifer took care of us & our villa’s, & Sabrina was near the gate. I had good contact with all 3 lovely ladies, & am happy to recommend Villa Banyan in Grande Gaube, Mauritius, to anyone who would like a peaceful holiday in a tranquil setting, with pool & a beautiful fishing beach view. It is not a resort. It is low-key & self contained & suited our needs perfectly! We were a group of 12 ladies spread between 4 of the 6 villas, celebrating a special birthday. Bianna & Jennifer were friendly, pleasant & helpful. They felt like our friends by the time we left. They organised a Mauritian feast & Sega musicians & a dancer on the birthday evening, & Jennifer even made a lovely birthday cake using her initiative & my favourite colours! Thank you ladies! from Pam 😊👍
Very peaceful, beautiful setting in a remote location approx 1 hour 20 min away from the airport. Host Sabrina is very helpful and looked after us really well, she cooked few meals for us for an additional price and got us few things from the local shop. Very accommodating and helpful lady! Villa itself is very spacious, lovely balcony etc, well equipped kitchen with the gas hob if you like cooking your own meals. Shower rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade, bring your own toiletries etc. Air con worked perfectly. I would suggest hiring a car - extremely difficult to get a taxi in the area and prices almost double after 9pm. Local supermarket is not worth visiting - hardly anything there. Overall - beautiful location and quiet stay.
A fantastic stay with excellent service and a very warm atmosphere. Really good. We enjoyed the spacy villa with 3 large sleeping rooms and 3 bathrooms. Nice pool. Clean garden. And the host is fantastic. Enjoy her cooking!!
The villas are located in the little village surrounded by the local houses and few resort hotels. Right on the beach with an amazing view. Very close to the local supermarket and simple restaurants but if you fancy eating in more elegant place the hotels restaurants offer very testy food for a reasonable price. But what is the best about the Villas Banyan is the couple of managers Sabrina and Mika. They make the atmosphere there and I can’t imagine anyone else there. They made us feel comfortable and looked after. They are so nice and helpful. Sabrina cooked for us and the food was delicious. And when we wanted fresh coconut juice we could have it any time from the garden palms. They make this place. We will definitely come back.
We loved to stay in villa banyan. The Host made us sooo happy with great food and barbeque for very small fee. The host sabrina is always around the house and availeble to help if needed. We had a great time there and can only recomend it.
If you're looking for a quiet, authentic view of Mauritius, this is the place to be. Having lived here for a few years, I've stayed at hotels on the island ranging from five stars to no stars at all and I can tell you that this was one of my favorite weekends ever. The villas are large and spacious, multiple bedrooms, full kitchen, AMAZING view of the water, its really perfect. If you're looking for a posh hotel, look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a gorgeous location that's close to little shops and villages, restaurants and beaches that also allows you to cook at home and really relax like you would in your own house, then this is the place. The caretakers, Sarah & Eric her husband are absolutely genuine, helpful people that are present and kind - I can't say enough good things about this place, I will definitely be going back real soon, fantastic, wonderful weekend!!!…
Absolutely gorgeous location on the beach in the quiet fishing village of Grand Guabe. Great value for the luxuries amenities included. Cleaning and cooking services are offered everyday and they will prepare the most delicious Mauritian dishes! Additionally, they will arrange boat trips so that you can go fishing or snorkeling or to lunch on a little island. Absolutely fantastic- can't wait to come back!
We were traveling with friends (6 adults) and we occupied 2 villas. Whole complex consists of 6 bungalows, which makes it almost private, peaceful and excellent for relaxing and the rest. But first of all Sarah hospitality and her cooking beat everything. She was also very helpful in organizing different activities (e. g. diving) and contact with local agencies. Bungalows were clean, roomy and well equipped. And all of them have gorgeous view on the ocean. The pool was big and deep enough very clean and very useful. Very good provided market is few steps from the complex. Unforgotten time, place and people.
