The Serena at Zanzibar has a fantastic location by the sea. But what stands apart is the hospitality shown by the staff. They are super friendly and helpful and we got superb guidance. More importantly, they always took care to ensure that we were not ripped off by 'tourist rates'. The one time that we did not take their advice...

Stepping into the beautiful lobby I was quite excited about this hotel. After waiting an hour for a room in the heat I was less impressed. Rooms are small and getting service around the pool was tough. Staff not very friendly.

This hotel has seen better times but I found that's what made it charming. Located at the sea shore with nice view from patio, conveniently located and friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are small even though the furniture seems to be from colonial days.

The hotel is located along the beach, we went for an evening meal and to listen to Tarabe Music - It was a wonderful experience. Had the grilled king fish - cooked to perfection with chips (chipsey). Simply exquisite!

Spent two nights at the Serena mid way through our holiday. The staff here are delightful, friendly, efficient and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We had a lovely room with a wrap around balcony and sea view. It's a bit small and the bathroom was tiny but expected in such a beautifully renovated old building....

We stayed one night in the Zanzibar Serena hotel, after a short week in a resort to spend a day in town before departure. We saw some very critical reviews and were a bit scared, yet were pleasantly surprised. Great setting, very charming and pleasant staff. Had a good (not excellent) dinner in the beautiful restaurant. The hotel is a...

A beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. The views from the rooms with balconies are breathtaking. I recommend a sundowner drink by the pool bar overlooking the ocean. The hotel can arrange a tour guide for a walking tour of the city. I stayed here for 1 night on Serena Prestige points. The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure...

Stayed with my family over the Christmas holiday and it was the perfect place to have decided to stay at Zanzibar Serena. We did a circuit Safari with Serena's and this was our place to unwind after the long tiring safaris in Serengeti and Maasai Mara in Kenya. From best food to welcoming staff, kudos to Lameck who organized the...

We spent 2 nights over the Christmas holiday period. The hotel was fully booked and they placed a single bed for our kids into a double room. We had a fantastic view of the sea from several windows and it felt as if we were on a ship. The hotel is designed in the local Swahili style with matching antique...
