I dont know if it could be rated as 4 stars but was clean and nice place. Breakfast was very limited. Staff in hotel was really helpful. There was some water cut in some period and while surfing in the internet, always password needed.

Hate to give a bad review but feel I have to share... To keep a long story as short as possible: we had booked rooms for 8 people to stay at Beyt Al Salaam but upon arrival was told that they were overbooked and we were to stay at their 'sister hotel' a few minutes walk away. The other hotel,...

If it wasn't for the following event my review would have been positive. However my positive experience had been completely spoilt at check out when the manager tried to get more money one way or the other. First he insisted what I paid at the moment of booking was only a part and I had to settle the rest at...

This was my first visit to this hotel and it was good. It is clean, the rooms are all slightly different (size and shape). The wifi worked well. The room I stayed was more Zanzibar style than some of the more expensive places, which was nice. Comfy bed, kettle, TV. The housekeeping staff and restaurant staff are very helpful and...

Thanks to my colleague, I was given one of the best rooms of the house on the second floor. The hotel is decorated in colonial style, the rooms have a fantastic view over the Kelele square and its lush garden, just in front of the sea. Every evening we went to enjoy the sunset. The staff at the front desk...

We stayed with our kids for two nights. Abdallah, the manager and the hotel staff (Bianca, Djuma and Rose) were extremely helpful to make us feel like at home. We arrived early in the morning at the hotel. First information was that we were booked at the Doubletree, because the Beyt al Salaam was full. We booked the hotel through their website on the 19th of august for a 5 night stay. We selected what they called the 'advance purchase' and thought the payment was done with. The rooms are fine, no complaints there. Breakfast is minimal, eggs, pancakes, bread, bacon, some muesli, fruits and 'sausages' (chipolatas). Gets quite boring after three days. Now when...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For those who want to experience the charm of a classic Zanzibar setting with a touch of ancient Arabian mystique, the place is Beyt Al Salaam, formerly known as Beyt Al Chai. This is an exquisite 10-room boutique hotel within a traditional Zanzibar house, built on 3 floors in what was once a tea house. Sitting only a few paces from the sea, the house is cool and breezy. On a typical day, guests relax in our beautifully appointed lounge and rooms overlooking a square filled with hibiscus and ancient tamarind trees - simultaneously feeling the pull of the mysterious Indian Ocean that lies just beyond the trees and soaking up the ambiance of this World Heritage Site only steps away from the shops, restaurants and attractions of contemporary Zanzibar. ... more   less
