So many things to like. Friendly, welcoming and helpful management and staff. Unique old world setting, yet with everything up to date e.g. air conditioned rooms and Wi-Fi. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bed comfortable. Breakfasts were great, especially the venue on the roof top with wonderful views over Stone Town and usually a breeze to keep it... More

We arrived and were greated with excellent hospitality including a beverage of our choice. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. The bathroom was clean and functioned well. You just have to remember to turn on the hot water switch 10-15 minutes before your shower. Internet connection was good. View from the roof/breakfast area was excellent.

We stayed here for a night at the end of our trip and I would say it’s an absolute must if you’re staying in Stone Town. Our room was large and beautifully decorated - good air conditioning and fans so a great place to chill out. The highlight of our stay was breakfast on the roof terrace which is so... More

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon. We stayed in the Bourbon Suite, which was really beautiful, and had an Ottoman/bohemian vibe. You are paying for the historical atmosphere of the hotel and the location, not necessarily cleanliness. It was definitely not dirty, but a bit run down for the amount that it costs to stay there. Also,... More

I only stayed one night, but Zanzibar Coffee House was the perfect base to explore Stone Town the staff were exceptionally accommodating and helpful in arranging last-minute activities (in our case, a private boat to Prison Island). Breakfast on the roof was a highlight (the homemade muesli!!) and the coffee was, naturally, delicious.

This was a great cafe. We stopped for coffee and cake and bought some coffee to take home. The pastries were divine. I could have eaten way more but had to resist. Good location in the heart of stone town nestled between some traditional building so well placed for this traditional coffee house!

Welcoming and helpful staff. Cooked to order breakfast on the rooftop and homemade cakes in the cafe on the ground floor were very tasty. The room I stayed in was very clean, had air con and mosquito nets round the bed which were draped down at dusk along with the room being sprayed before I returned for the night. I... More

I stayed for three nights in the single room option-Caturra. The room was small, but very clean and with a 'simplistic elegance'. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet and water is offered right outside the room. The only downside to the room is that the bathroom is down the hall and not located in the room. I...
