The staff at Golden Monkey are great - warm, smiling, and ready to help in whatever way you need. Aaaand that's where the greatness ends. The shower has cold water only (even when you turn on the "hot" water, it's still cold; there was an actual flush toilet, though, so that's a bonus), the vinyl flooring is peeling off and...

Very friendly, flexible and helpful staff! They helped us arrange transport to Mt Sabinyo, guided us to a money changer, to markets as well as showing us the way to Lake Mutanda. Great cheap food in the resteaurant as well.

Facilities are rundown, showers were broken (no hot water), rooms damp, lights broken, only mens communal toilet did not flush! Activities organised at the guesthouse were overpiced and designed to make profit only for the owner *Shaq*. For example, guesthouse van to Gorilla trekking (90mins) was $US175 for group of 5, dropped guests at the bottom of the mountain instead...

The place is located close to the main road but still offers a quiet ambiance. The setting is inviting & you can feel confirtable. The food is very commendeble as previouse reviews mentioned. however, you wait a looooooong time (1.5h for some chicken and chips), yet there were only 7 people ordering quiet the same. I know that you have...

Good budget place for staying for local activities like Gorilla tracking or vulcano climbing, very nice personnel, very helpful with everything needed, they supply hot water whenever you ask, good food in a restaurant provided you order local food, no English or French breakfast, excellent view from terrace on the Muhavura Mountain, very close to the good cafe and to...

Been there twice in a year and always got a warm welcome. The rooms are basic yet clean and properly equipped. Ideally located just a little off the town centre so it's both quiet and close to shops, cafés and other amenities. Breakfast is not included but instead of the common African toasts with canned jam and margarine you can...

I returned to the Golden Monkey Guest House for the second time with students (3rd time for me) for a service learning trip in the area. With a friendly staff that made everyone feel at home, our only disappointment was having to leave at the end of our trip! While other places may be more luxurious, you can't beat Golden...

We stayed at Golden Monkey for two nights. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful, and organized hikes for us in the area (including guides and transportation). They have a restaurant in the lodge, and are close to other amenities around Kisoro like ATMs, stores, and other restaurants and shops. The wifi here was the best we had anywhere in...

I didn't stay at the Golden Monkey, but still met the staff who were great. They are really fun people that help you get to know fun things to do around Kisoro. They also let us book activities through Virunga Adventure Tours, such as a safari trip to Queen Elizabeth. Definitely a place to visit in Kisoro, especially to meet...

Not very luxurious, cheap place. The beds in the dorms had some bugs which took me 3 days to get rid of after I left the place. The staff is helpful and will arrange anything you need. Kisoro isnt too big but it helps to be near the Coffee Pot!
