We travelled as a Family of 7 - 4 adults, 3 kids. The staff at the hotel were very welcoming. They went out of their way to make us comfortable, warming water when the solar was not heating, buying for us stuff from the supermarket. The breakfast was provided on time.

I stayed at the Traveler's Rest Hotel; prior to tracking and observing the Silverback Mountain Gorilla. The lodge is reportedly the same lodge, that Diann Fossey, the woman responsible for preventing the Silverback Gorillas from becoming extinct (and for whom the movie, "Out of Africa was based on) often stayed, while in Uganda. The rooms are very clean and comfortable...

This hotel is all on one level around pretty gardens. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. They are light with windows on two walls. One set does not have a view and the other looks over the gardens, a sheltered veranda runs round all rooms with outside seating. People walking past can see in. The main lounge is...

We stayed here for 3 nights and really have no complaints. All the staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food was very good. Room as comfortable and clean. Shower hot (run the initial cool water into the bucket so they can use it elsewhere) Very nice.

We steped in with no expectations, but were welcomed very friendly by Emanuel & Roy, who turned out to be very carrying & hospitable. The ambiente is very charming. With a open fire in a sitting room. The 'á la cart' menue was informative & widespread & we even got informed that certain dishes were not availeble (this fact makes...

A simple, but inviting lodge, it's a great place to relax after hiking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The rooms were simple, but provided everything we needed. The common room in the lodge has a large fireplace that creates a nice atmosphere as well as kept everyone warm in the evenings.

Best feature is a nice lounge with a fireplace. Kisoro is at altitude and can get cool, so the indoors fire is welcome. And that is especially after climbing Gahinga. Staff is very welcoming. A large dog is also very welcoming, and he laid down just outside our room, a nice security feature. On checkout, be sure to review the...

Our hostess Roy was very welcoming and carefully explained all that we needed to know. We found the rooms (with large self-contained bathrooms) to be light and spacious. The gardens around the rooms are inviting for reading a book or looking at the volcanoes (beautiful view!). It was rainy season when we were there and the lounge had a fire...

We had a lovely stay at Travellers Rest, as part of our gorilla trek organized by Gorilla Tours. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff extremely friendly and helpful. There is a nice sitting room with a fireplace and some interesting souvenirs at good prices. As part of our tour package we chose to do a walking tour to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Travellers' Rest is an excellent place for tourists visiting the endangered mountain gorilla in Southwest Uganda. The hotel, built in a somewhat colonial style, has ten rooms and one suite at reasonable prices. The garden is home to many birds, and in the evenings, when it gets cooler, visitors can warm themselves at the fireplace in the lounge. In the restaurant every evening a fine 4 course dinner is served. "Gorillas in the Mist" researcher Dian Fossey stayed here many times, calling it her "second home". The hotels offers a massage-service, perfect after a long gorilla trekking. ... more   less
