Stayed here for two nights in June (10 & 11 June) as part of a tour group. Food was great and varied, my room was clean & nice & cool which was a great relief coming from winter in New Zealand. I recommend staying here - my only perhaps negative comment is that the staff could be friendlier.

Please do you a favour and do NOT book this hotel! 38 degrees outside and in the room they set a timer for the air conditioning that stops it after an hour of running. So we had 29 degrees inside in the night, I had to wake up every hour in order to start it again and again. In the morning they came and reprogrammed it so hopefully this night we will be able to sleep. I’ve booked massage therapy for the whole family (3) and it was the most bizarre and non professional massage I ever had! Furthermore payed for 1hour and 20’ and received at most 55 minutes. Very bad experience overall.

There may be special areas and rooms of this hotel that warrant some of the reviews I’ve read, but what we encountered was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. Hotels in unique tourist locations around the world often suffer the same fate. Management knows that there are limited choices if one wants to spend a night right on the Dead Sea, they know the benefit of location is their primary value and thereby just let their properties deteriorate. The front desk barely speaks English, is ill informed about most anything in the hotel and hands out keys. The room was FILTHY AND DISGUSTING, as in making you want to shower twice after leaving to get rid of that feeling. Bed sheets torn and dirty, 1 towel per person, AC that you can set to anything but won’t cool the room below 24 C, broken and stained balcony chairs and not so much as a bottle of water. The front door frame seemed ready to fall off the wall. Then the toilet broke (not ideal when one of us likely got sick from the buffet) and the hotel phone stopped working so it was impossible to call for help other than go down to the lobby. In all fairness, the staff was very responsive with regard to fixing the toilet and bringing towels. AC…no chance. Then let’s not forget the fire alarm in the middle of the night. With no phone, you couldn’t call to confirm if it was a real emergency. We trusted that since we were in Israel, if there were a real emergency we would have known it clearly…hopefully that was a good bet. The buffet had tons of food but I guess we are all now (via Covid) conditioned to certain levels of food safety and sanitation. All for good reason. Not at the David. Hundreds of people and kids touching, handling, breathing, coughing and in some cases sneezing directly on the food. Disgusting. This may have been a nice place in the 80’s, which sadly might have been the last time management out any money into The David. One Star is because the staff seemed responsive to some room issues (the dining room staff seemed bored and as if they really wished the guests would just go home) and the location. However a tent with a boxed lunch on the beach would offer the same or better location benefit. I don’t know if all of the hotels in this area are the same, but I’d never suggest anyone stay at The David. If the others are similar, then I’d vote for a drive by, take a dip/float and move on.

The hotel suffers from gradual and continuous deterioration. One of the largest hotels in the Dead Sea area, located right at the entrance. Already upon arrival the atmosphere is not pleasant, impatient receptionists answer rudely and are not pleasant, there is some strange custom of the hotel to force the guests to walk with bracelets, as if we were released prisoners who 5 minutes ago were released from prison and actually came to a probation officer and not for a vacation. Parking: There is none at the hotel, the guests are sent to park on a road made of unpaved cobblestone that causes damage to the car. Guest service: excessively rude, for example: towels, literally count the towels, the hotel does not understand that a couple + 2 children need a little more than 4 towels. Completely understand that the hotel is dealing with a problem of towel theft - but there should be another way to deal with the problem. Food: Everything is there and in abundance, the food itself is not tasty, bland and tasteless, especially at dinner. Terrible crowding in the dining room, disorder, few waiters who provide service. Public areas: pool, dirty and not clean, plastic dishes everywhere including in the water, ice cream wrappers, garbage cans full, people smoking everywhere, toilets in the pool are contaminated, some of them are broken. Hotel lobby: very crowded, not enough space, not clean, very hot, problem with air conditioning. The hotel room: although it seems to have been renovated here, there are still quite a few malfunctions and problems: water leaking from the air conditioner's motor, the phone in the room is simply broken, it is not possible to call the reception, and until they succeed, there is no answer either at the reception or at the switchboard. In conclusion: there is room for improvement, the hotel completely does not meet our expectations.

Already when I arrived at the hotel they made a mistake, I booked a premium room at a high price, on purpose in order to get the treats it brings with it. We came to celebrate a birthday, due to the mistakes the celebration was simply ruined for us. We received a room far from being premium and looking like the pictures. The refrigerator door was broken, the safe was broken. For two hours, maintenance people came back and forth from my room until I was changed to a room, and I also got that one with dirty chairs on the balcony. People smoke in the hotel in every corner, the smoking law is not enforced and in the corridors of my floor (14th floor) the smell of cooking and frying in the dining room prevailed. We received shouts from the hotel employee handing out towels that we asked for towels without tickets, when we reminded the employee that we did not receive tickets at all, she flatly refused to give us towels and sent us to reception. In short, shocking service, an old and crumbling hotel. Not going back to it, not even for free.

This hotel was quite good. Could have been 5 stars in the days but as you know its age is showing but overall still very good. Many amenities available, breakfast has quite a good buffet spread, I guess the basics of a good hotel, this one has it.

Holy Land Tour, 4 ladies went to spa. One was laying naked in mud wrap when 3 construction workers came in and worked the whole.time. Terrified and angry, upon leaving she asked man at receeption if they were in the habit of sending construction workers in with clients. He shrugged and turned away. Front desk did better, but should NEVER have happened in a quality resort.

Very nice and clean place. There is a Shopping Mall within easy walking distance, with plenty of big brand names available. We had a very pleasant stay at this Hotel, Food was good too, although it can get busy, the Hotel is frequented by tour groups.

I work as a tour leader and stayed at the hotel for 1 night. At the arrival the staff made a mistake giving me 23 double rooms instead of the 25 booked including 2 triples. I allocated all my group leaving myself and the tour guide without a room. After one hour, they came up with the 2 remaining rooms asking 2 families with children to be reallocated to triples rooms and then and ONLY then they would give the rooms which the families were already settled in , to myself and the guide. As all the group was already using the hotel facilities, such as sea and pool, we had to wait for over 3 HOURS to have our rooms. The hotel refused to allocate us before the families change their room and return the keys to them. The manager was a rude man who refused to admit that it was their mistake giving us the incorrect number of rooms upon our arrival. I found very inhuman to leave us waiting for such a long time to have our rooms after a tiring working day. The hotel is huge and even though they refused to give our rooms, considering their mistake at first. With such a bad service I really do not recommend this place, there are better options in the area with friendly staff. Families also complained about dirty rooms.
