Well priced all inclusive resort with non-stop programming for kids and families. Family friendly with club options for the kiddos. Extensive buffets during all hours of the day. Well trained bar tenders concicting complicated and tasty local drinks, as well as the tried and true standards. One warning, finding English speakers is tricky, learn to use Google Translate if you're a one language speaker like me!

Fantastic resort: restaurant and bar structures, water park, sports, shows, internal logistics, accommodation in general beautiful and always clean, service and recreation teams very well prepared, fast and always ready to serve. Food at all times, different drinks and plenty of food. It is worth it.

We, a couple with two children, 11 and 7 years old, stayed there one week in early April, 2004 (Easter). The hotel is weel kept and run, with nice gardens and a nice and accessible white sand beach. It is caribbean-like in low tide... Contrasting with the other two 5-star resorts in the area, whose beaches are rocky, narrow, located deep down 5 or 10 metres and less accessible.
The sea food is very nice and affordable due to the brazilian real favourable exachange rate.
We would certainly go back.

1)The WiFi did not work in our room during our entire four day stay and on the third day it did not work for an entire day throughout the entire facility.

2)Twice we had to request maintenance to address an issue with the toilet.

3)While we appreciate the property is in Brazil and we appreciate national pride, the resort is a global enterprise and some attempt should be made to hire some personal with multi linguistic capabilities. To be clear my native language is German.

4)One evening, every restaurant within the facility was closed and the only option was a buffet in the breakfast area. This facility was extremely unpleasant due to the total absence of air conditioning.

5)The A/C system throughout the facility is either incapable of meeting the needs of the property in general or it is in need of repair.

6)The quality, variety and presentation of the meals were pedestrian and not reflective of resort carrying a four star rating.

6)The rooms are stark with not a single place, not a drawer or closet to place or hang up clothes during a multi-day at this facility. Furthermore there’s no comfortable furniture to sit on other than two chairs.
The entire resort looks old, tired and in need of refurbishment.

7)l will be in Portugal in two months and you can be assured that l will not be staying in a Vila Gale Resort.

Finally, l would actively dissuade any one that l know from staying in this establishment which is my opinion does not have any attributes associated with a resort.

I went here as part of my honeymoon, and paid for an expensive all inclusive package but was completely disapointed!!! Very bad value for money and I would not recomend this place to anybody!!! And especially if you dont speak Portuguese very well.

The service was ok from the waiters but the reception and management were terrible, there was only one member of the reception that spoke english and little information was provided about the hotel and it's facilities. The look of the place is good but that is where the good part stops. The food looks good but is of poor quality and the food avilable does not change it is the same every day. This place is good if you dont like to do anything except sit by a nice swimming pool and eat low quality food. There is an aditional resuraunt which is by invtation/reservation only, the number of times which you can go there is dependent upon the length of your stay. We were there fo 5 nights and were entitled to 2 reservasions at this so called "fine dining restaurant"...not impressed!!! The food was a little better than the regular buffet but the combination of sushi with italian food was a little odd. We ate there only once as on our last night there we were unable to use our reservasion voucher due to an excursion we booked with an independent company for which the hotel did not advise us about anything we could do there. The restaurant can only be booked between 9-11am. There is a very small menu with only two choices for each serving and the menu is only in Portuguese, there is no drinks menu. We tried to go there for our last night without a resevasion and were refused simply because we had not reserved at the correct time, even though it was nearly empety and had lots of tables available.
The room we paid for was suposed to be a superior room but their definision of superior must be different to mine, as superior it was not!!! the room decoration was very dated, the furniture was old, the veranda had a very old brittle plastic patio table and chairs, the luxury garden view was no where near luxury unless you like to see nothing except a big palm tree leaf imediately infront of you. There was no iron in the room, they will not suply one as it is something they don't have. If you want to iron your clothes you need to pay them to do it...as is the case with most other things there...eg the internet for wich you pay by the minuet at 10 cents a minuet, not exspensive but it is slow so you pay more, and should be free. There were no water sports available there as advertised and if you want to do something you have to find out about it yourself, they wont help you. We spoke to many other guests and their views were the same as ours. Most were Brazilian and one other foreig couple, but all were of the same opinion...dont come here!!! My wife and I cold not wait to leave this place!!!

Excelent hotel. If you like a beach with calm sea protected with coral reef which is located around 7 blocks from the beach, that is your choice. Weather is always hot. Rooms are nice All people is very friendly. Food is excellent. I found like a "branch of the paradise" location within a reasonable segment of price.

This is the letter I sent to the owners of the resort.
Dear Sir or Madam,
My wife and I recently (April 14 - April 21) visited Vila Gale Eco Resort do Cabo on our honeymoon. Let me say that I have traveled widely around the world (36 countries), and I have stayed in everything from youth hostels to five-star hotels. I am also currently the owner of a hotel, a restaurant and a bar, and I have owned bars or restaurants on three continents.
I wanted to contact your company to point out what we, and other guests we spoke to at the resort, found to be some serious shortcomings in the hotel.
I'd like to go through several areas which I can only assume that the management is not aware of because if management was aware of these problems, they would have surely been corrected.

The grounds/gardens: Over all, very nicely kept. The gardens were clean and well tended and nicely laid out.

The room: We stayed in what I believe was a standard room (room 317). Very nice, very comfortable. The maid service did a reasonable job every day. However, there was a considerable quantity of mould in the shower when we arrived, something that the maids should have cleaned.

The staff: The staff were very personable and tried to be helpful. The one glaring problem in this area was that we met only one of your staff in the entire stay who spoke english - he was some kind of worker at the towel cabana by the pool - and none who spoke spanish. For a supposedly five star hotel, this is not acceptable. From the guests we met during your stay, I understand that your clientele is largely Brazilian, but a non-negligible portion of the guests were not Brazilian and did not speak Portuguese. While the staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, everything was made more difficult by this lack of language skills. English, as the international language of travelers and business, and Spanish, as surely you receive many guests from the surrounding countries, should surely be spoken by at least one front desk worker during each shift.
One staff member, Graca, who works as the evening bartender in the lobby bar, should be singled out as an employee exceptionally dedicated to doing whatever it took to satisfy guest requests and to make them feel welcome.

The food: Overall, I would give the food at best an average grade. The food in the common dining area ranged from really quite good to barely edible. I had some very nice duck and pork, but some lunches were so bad that I had to leave most of it on my plate uneaten. The available juices tasted as if they had been made from concentrate. Your "fine-dining" restaurant, Inevitavel, was a joke. It is such a shame that such a beautiful setting had to be ruined by such appalling food. We were given coupons for three nights in Inevitavel, but we used just two. The sushi appetizer is a nice idea, but wrapping fruit and rice in seaweed does not make it sushi. It is beyond my understanding why a resort on the beach and next to a fishing village would use frozen fish and fake crab. Our second night at Inevitavel, the options for the main course were a seafood stew, ravioli or spaghetti bolognese. My wife chose the seafood stew, which was edible but obviously full of frozen fish. For want of a better choice I had the ravioli, which was a gooey, sticky, nasty mess. I don't believe that the pasta was freshly made and the sauce tasted like it came from a jar in the supermarket. As for the third choice, spaghetti bolognese, really? In a "fine-dining" restaurant, that's the best the "chef" can come up with? The wine served was not bad, but the servers insisted on pouring our glasses barely a third full and then disappearing, so no refills were possible (this with maybe 4 tables being served at that time). They should either be available and attentive, pour more wine, or leave the bottle at the table (in an ice bucket, for white wine!).
Please, it is a beautiful location with the possibility of creating a truly excellent dining experience. May I suggest fresh fish and seafood on an ice bar, selected by the guests and grilled to order, for the main courses with a couple of simple, light, fresh sauces to accompany them; crab or lobster or shrimp appetizers; fresh fruit and coconut dishes for desserts? You have the resources available there, make it fresh and delicious.

The bars: We had the opportunity to use all three bars. All three were very disappointing. You claim to be an international hotel but manifestly fail to live up to the expected standards. I have owned or run bars all over the world and have never in my life seen such a pathetic selection of drinks available. I understand that some may be too expensive to place under the "all-inclusive" price, but there are many international brands that should have been available for an additional charge that just weren't. May I list some basics? Rum (Bacardi, Bacardi Gold, Havana, Captain Morgans), Vodka (Absolut, Absolut Citron etc, Stolichnaya, Smirnoff, Grey Goose), Gin (Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray - my wife did spy a bottle of Tanqueray one afternoon at the pool bar but, alas, no tonic was available!), Tequila (Jose Cuervo), others (Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Red Bull or other "energizante", tonic water, Jaegermeister, Kahlua, Corona beer (a beach holiday standard throughout the world). A larger selection of beer than just Bavaria would have been nice also. Please note that I'm not commenting on the quality of any of these brands, just that they are standards for even the most basic, backwater bar anywhere in the world, and should certainly be present in a bar that purports to be of high quality. On your website, you advertise "Vila Galé Cocktails, prepared on the spot with natural fruits". None of these were available at any time in any of the bars. The "Strawberry Daiquiri" advertised was made with vodka and some kind of pre-prepared artificial strawberry juice and was perfectly undrinkable. A strawberry daiquiri consists of rum, ice, fresh strawberries and sugar. That's it. There's also a picture on one of your brochures given to us in the hotel of an "umbrella drink" served in a fresh coconut. Not available anywhere. Please, you are in an area surrounded by fantastic fruit, put a blender behind each bar and make some great drinks! You can use the cheap rum, nobody will know the difference! Take the fruit left over from the breakfast service and give it to the pool bar, it's that easy! One more thing, the lobby bar has no fans and no air-conditioning and is very, very hot. The "night club soul and blues", my apologies if I got the name wrong, was completely forgettable. Never more than 10 people in the place (most nights there were none), bad music, cheesy lights. Please, knock that waste of space down. In it's place, build a simple beach bar where the volleyball court now is. Keep it small, simple, rustic and mostly open to the breezes, the sounds of the waves and the stars. You'll get a lot more people hanging out there and a lot of happier guests.
We wouldn't have been disappointed in the hotel if it had been advertised as something it wasn't. If you have a desire to be a fine hotel, you have to go all the way with all the components, you can't just say it is so and expect the guests to believe it.
Please note that I will soon be posting this letter to the major hotel review sites.
Thank you for your time.

Con Dowler and Veronica Murphy.

As the location is beautiful this could have been a good experience but I would not recommend this "Eco Resort". To kick-off, everything I saw was "anti-Eco" and I felt that they cheated me with their eco propaganda. The staff is simple and humble but not enough trained to give adequate service. We arrived with hungry kids at 2:30 pm and the lunch restaurant, that closes at 3 pm, had no food (?), the reception gave us a room for 2 people and I had to fight for 2 hours to get 4 beds in a couple room (the family room I had booked was not available...) And the "service" continued on this level! I am sure this is a management problem. The staff is doing their best. Another big disappointment is that the hotel is old and very bad maintained. To show a nice video on the home page and in reality the hotel is full of problem - it is not serious. Wi-fi is another example how they promise one thing and when you arrive you realize that the quality is useless. Do not blame the staff, do not blame the beautiful location - the management and owner is not doing a good job. Charge muss less and your level of standard would be accepted.

Don't expect a typical Caribbean / Mexican all inclusive.
The hotel's beach really shallow and it is enclosed in a small bay. Despite this, the hotel's pool is good enough. The gym's OK, and the food is also OK (not plenty of restaurants as in some of the Mexican all inclusives, just 2).
Considering its proximity to Suape, the traffic and the streets condition, it is a hotel that is OK for short business trips, although it a bit expensive.
