Wow, wow wow! we decided to explore a piece of Aus that we hadn’t seen and Ningaloo Reef and Sal Salis were beyond our expectations. From the moment we arrived to the day we left, we felt part of the family. The team we had were engaging, knowledgeable and always helpful. The accomodation - never slept better! Lovely facilities and bed is so comfy after a day snorkeling. The food - oh my goodness! You are never left wanting and the creativity of the menu had you wanting more. The other guests were fabulous and the shared evening meals meant you had lots of laughs and conversation, all sharing experiences. Could not rate this high enough. Out of 10,it is definitely a 15 if I could. We will be back!

We had a great 3 night stay in this magical place, and it indeed exceeded our already quite high expectations. It is a unique environment in the national park, right on the Ningaloo reef and quite remote. No phone or internet (if desperate can drive 20km to get signal). deserted beaches, great sunsets, and stunning star viewing There are only 15 tents - they are nice, with v comfy beds, and bathrooms, and a great hammock out front, and we were even able to spot whales from our bed ! they do flap a bit if windy, and no fans might be a problem early season (feb/mar) or v late (nov) but wasnt in sept. We didnt have any problems with flies, which sounds like an issue more in mar/april. Dining is fixed menu (they accomodate dietary resctrictions without any problem0 and communal for dinner, which we really enjoyed and the breakfasts and lunch options were excellent too. Open bar - but so it should be at these prices. They need to do better tho' than an old coffee pod machine ... perhaps my only gripe. Staff - outstanding. Above and beyond. No request is too much trouble. Without exception they were friendly, super-helpful, and a particular shout out to ben (front of house) and hailey who runs the activities program (2 each day if you wish) with such good humour and enthusiasm (hiking/snorkeling/canoeing). snorkeling gear/wetsuits/rashies were very good - you dont need to bring anything. also highly recommend taking a boat trip (several companies run these and dont have to book through hotel.... we were glad we chose live ningaloo who the hotel recommend too as they only take 6-7 pax on their boat, and can pick you up from hotel or you can self drive to the boat ramp).. we really enjoyed seeing the humpback whales up close, and some great snorkeling too, but swimming with whale sharks (3!) was a huge highlight albeit unexpected as off season..

We have just had three fantastic nights at Sal Salis and we need to say a huge thank you to all the staff! They made this stay a very special and positive experience. The area is just stunning. We could not have been better looked after with wonderful meals and comfortable bedding. Our tent was cleaned and bed made twice a day. You can do as much or as little as you like here and we enjoyed two organized activities each day. All were beautiful and exceeded our high expectations. The reef is stunning and we were lucky to see all the wildlife we had hoped for. September was a great month as we had full sunshine, many many whales and even the whale sharks but no flies like you get closer to summer. The previous review is not correct at the moment as we were not tested for Covid though you do need to be Covid negative to come. A fantastic experience we will fondly remember. Thank you Sal Salis. We had tent 3 with a lovely view of the water.

Was due to have a romantic getaway here. It’s very pricey for what it is but we have had a fabulous time here previously. Just prior to our stay a new covid policy was brought in place of mandatory daily testing of guests and testing in the car park on arrival. I caught covid and couldn’t go on the holiday. I understand the need to protect guests and staff but Management were heartless and refused to change the dates or even offer a partial refund despite the policy not being in place when we first booked. Will not be returning.

Our group of eight stayed at Sal Salis for 3 nights and we all agree that we had a fabulous time. The food was absolutely delicious every meal. The service is excellent. Every day there are two activities to enjoy if you choose, both a snorkel and a hike. We tried them all and our guides were both professional and knowledgeable as well as very helpful and personable. Thankyou to you all, too many to mention, but we remember Nick, Maddie, Hayley, Hannah, Jake, Renee, Nicole, Simon. Nothing was too much trouble.

We had a memorable 3 nights at Sal Salis. Initially I planned to rate our experience 5/5, but having thought about it there were some negatives in relation to the accommodation which I have passed on separately to Sal Salis. The whole place is looking very tired and in need of refurbishment and quite honestly not what would be expected considering the high cost of staying here. On the plus side, the location, staff and excursions were brilliant. We also met some lovely people. Food was very good especially breakfast and lunch with dinner being good but a little disappointing, again considering the cost factor.

We had a relaxing three nights, enjoying the peaceful setting and the great snorkeling and walking activities. The enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff were outstanding. The unspoiled and isolated location is superb, and falling asleep to the sound of waves added to the sense of being somewhere special. Unfortunately the facilities are far from luxury. Comfortable - yes; but starting to look run down (shabby furnishings and amenities) and the food was variable in quality (eg some experimentation was over-ambitious). The ‘very good’ rating reflects the overall ambience and location, and the attentive and friendly efforts of staff. However, the facilities were average (not the claimed luxury) and need urgent attention.

Our stay at the Sal Salis was absolutely perfect. We've both been lucky to have some pretty spectacular holidays - including a number of luxury safari stays - but Sal Salis is a whole new level of magic. The place feels incredibly natural. We knew it was remote and near the reef, which was one of the key draw cards for us, but they make excellent use of the stunning location. We thoroughly enjoyed the daily activities, thoughtfully programmed and guided by Hailey who generously shared her vast knowledge of the region and its wildlife (even on her birthday!) With no phone reception and being effectively in the middle of nowhere, we were expecting some things to be a bit rough or needing to "go with the flow". We absolutely went with the flow - but the service was impeccable and delightful at every turn. Beautifully serviced rooms and magnificent food - we were constantly asking ourselves: "how did they do that??" A particular highlight for us was the communal evening dining: it feels a little strange at first, but we met some wonderful people and were eager to swap numbers at the end of the trip! The entire operation under manager Nick's tremendous leadership has such a relaxed elegance that we felt transformatively rejuvenated from day one. The whole team went out of their way to make our stay truly memorable. Special thanks to Ben, Hannah, Hailey, Ben and Leo, and everyone else whose name I've forgotten! The crew feel like they're all great mates, and it was a privilege to spend time with them on our holiday. Thank you!!

Ningaloo reef, and the location of Sal Salis is incredible- mind blowingly beautiful. What makes Sal Salis so special for us was the attentiveness of the staff. Nick and his team are relaxed, and casual, but fully aware of guest needs - creating a unique service that is informal and approachable whilst still entirely 5 star. The food was amazing.

We had the most amazing stay at Sal Salis! Would give it a 10/10. The eco lodge was done so nicely and the minute you arrive you are put into relax mood. The staff make the experience and are so giving with their time and ensure that you make the most out of your time in paradise. Thankyou to all the wonderful staff!! You know who you are. Would definitely recommend the scenic flight to the lodge. It was special seeing the land and reef from the sky. If you like nature, making new friends, daily adventures with the most beautiful environment you can’t go wrong at Sal Salis. We would come back in a heart beat if we ever get the chance to visit such a place again!
