I took a side track from the Bibbulmun Track out of Balingup, and stayed the night at the Exchange Hotel. The owner/manager was friendly and helpful, the beer was cold and the feed was great. Highly recommended.

What a surprise! Visited this gorgeous old Hotel with a friend who has recently moved into the town. What a surprise to actually find a place that caters for Vegetarians and Vegans. My friend enjoyed his meal and it was fantastic to order a vegetarian meal and not just a side salad for a change. I'll shall return! Thanks Julian

We went for dinner at 6pm and enjoyed the vegetarian lasagne and vegetarian casserole. It's great to have decent vegetarian options in a small town country pub. We had little kids so ate outside so they could roam about.

My vegan friends alerted me to this place, which is just up the road from Balingup. The English couple who own the hotel are friendly, and happy to accommodate vegan and vegetarians (easier with a bit of advance warning). This is made easier by the fact that the chef is a vegetarian herself, so there seems to usually be at...

Great location for all the walking trails around Greenbushes, close to mine lookout, friendly staff, quiet location, central to Boyup Brook, Balingup, Bridgetown. Beautiful old building tasty meals, worth a visit. Cheaper accommodation to other larger towns. Stay the night and visit the Discovery Centre, natural pool/swimming area, revegetated dams and historical buildings in town.

After 3 days of hiking in the Southwest forest, us six weary fellas were greeted with a smile by the Publican, Julian. We indulged ourselves in some cold beers, good wine and a sensational roast meal, all at very reasonable prices. The rooms were as expected in an old Colonial Hotel and were clean, neat and comfortable, ideal for an...

After few tiring days on the Bib track, the stay at the Exchange was an enjoyable experience. Basic BUT adequate rooms, pretty straight pool tables, absolute deluxe Sunday roast, huge breakfasts and a warm atmosphere. Would recommend this place to anyone doing the Bib or anyone wanting a great Sunday roast.

Pleasant weekend stay in this renovated old small town country hotel. Not the Ritz, but good food, hot showers and cheerful management. Historic building with quaint decor and floorboards that go squeak in the night. Interesting walk around town with explanatory signs at each location. Morning stroll through bush to excavated spring-fed town pool.

We were there on a Sunday night, and had the roast pork. Oh my goodness! It came with a Yorkshire pud, stuffing ball, cauliflower cheese plus all the usual potatoes and greens. It was enormous and delicious. For a Sunday night in a very quiet town the restaurant got very busy. The accomodation was in a donga style cabin, not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Exchange Hotel on the southern end of the town’s main street is a testament to the town’s early prosperity. Built in 1907, the hotel is a brick double storey building with an elaborate plaster pediment on the front façade. Although the original verandahs have been replaced by an awning, the building retains a high level of original details both externally and internally. The building contains original leadlights, fine jarrah detailing including the staircase and balustrade. ... more   less
