This is a older motel. But we have always enjoyed our stay. The room is always clean and neat. Refrigerator, microwave, big bathroom. We have stayed there several years in a row for our church conference. The town is a wonderful place to walk around and enjoy the view of the mountains. Always a very reasonable price.
We found ourselves stopping in town for the night on a road trip. There was a gas shortage last fall and we didn't want to press on until we knew we could get gas. This place is an old motor court. If dated places scare you, move on. I'm adventurous and a bit nostalgic and these places remind me of trips as a kid. I usually only opt for these type places when on a road trip. I expect cleanliness though.
They had availability, as it was during the week and a gas shortage, which had led to cancelations. Upon entering the office, the owner gave me a key and suggested that I take a look before deciding. I really appreciated that gesture. I went and gave it the once over; it was dated, but very clean. I inspected the carpet, sheets, lifted up the mattress, and looked closely in the bathroom. No signs of bugs or hair. Sold. Cheap rate and a clean place to shower and sleep before hitting the Parkway in the morning. If you aren't pretentious and this isn't going to be a 'special getaway', then it's not a bad place at all to rest and stay. It's also a nice little town to stop in.
This was our second stay at the Apple Blossom. Our king-bed room had new carpet, three new windows that fully open, and I understand the next project is to replace mattresses. At $60-$65 a night, the owners must choose carefully which items to prioritize. I agree that the heat/air units are noisy, but at this time of year (spring) we didn't need heat or air. We opened the windows, instead. The bathroom may be on the small-side, but it includes a full tub and shower with great water pressure and hot water, and a window. As for a hairdryer, the front office happily supplied one for the length of my stay. The electrical outlets are old-style and I couldn't use the dryer in the bathroom so I simply used it in the room. We love having a table and chairs, fridge and microwave. The view from our rear window is a little natural area behind the motel. Out front are flowers. Coffee is available in the morning in the office (a dispensing machine.) Wifi is quick and free. I hope that their priority list will include new linens because they could use updating. But for our needs, we love this little family-owned and run place.
This is an older motel but is very clean and reasonably priced. All rooms are exterior but it was very quiet at night. A sidewalk is in front of the motel allowing you to walk about a quarter mile to downtown Black Mountain. I had a king bed in a decent sized room. The TV was an old tube type but the picture was good (not HD though). People at the desk were very friendly and allowed me to inspect the room before I rented. It cost about 60 bucks plus tax.
The ammenities here are top notch. Rooms are clean, staff is excellent. Highly recommend this property for families with young children. They will not be bored! The Unwashables left their mark here. We will return.
