I have never had to write a review on a place and it is unfortunate that I felt i had to for this B&B. I want to begin with saying that this place is a beautiful place for an outdoor event. Our first experience with...More

Our response to an earlier review noted some of the problems with this wedding, including the threat that the groom would have "150 people give bad reviews" when we told him he could not plug his travel trailer into our electrical grid until the wedding...More
My wife and I have visited a good number of historical B&Bs, but the Pond House Inn is a unique place that we feel lucky to have visited. The house overlooks a wide expanse of the Pasquotank River for a gorgeous view. But it is...More

Thank you, Bob, for a lovely review. It was a pleasure to have you with us!
I will never…ever…recommend this facility to anyone, nor, will I ever return to such an ill taken care of facility. Here is why.
About two weeks prior to Memorial Day we made reservations over the phone with Ms. Johnson, the proprietor, for the 2nd to...More

Most of our guests are absolutely lovely. Sometimes we get one that causes us to recall that old adage, "All of our guests make us happy, some when they come and some when they leave." This gentleman, who prefers to call himself "Colonel," come knowing...More
Beware! Super rude! My son had a wedding there 9/17/16. She appeared friendly when we chose the venue, but when it came time for the venue, she absolutely fell apart. Wouldn't answer questions about how to reset a breakers (that kept blowing), turned vendors away...More

It is difficult to respond positively to this review. We have done almost a hundred weddings over 15 years, but we have never had one as problematic as this one. The bride was beautiful and so was the wedding, but the groom's family was difficult....More
Martha hosts a wonderful stay. We visited on our Anniversary weekend on our way to the outer banks for a week. The home is amazing with all of it's history. Although there isn't much to the downtown area, we found an excellent casual gourmet restaurant...More

We try very hard to resolve all issues guests disclose to us. Unfortunately, neither of these guests approached us with a problem--they only complained after they left, which gives us no opportunity to satisfactorily resolve the issue. One winter guest was apparently sensitive to a propane gas fireplace in the library. Had we known of their sensitivity, we would have turned off the fireplace. The other guest, who also did not bring their issue to us, apparently reacted to a routine pest control spray outside the house. Had they notified us of their problem, we would have offered them another room, but they did not bring their complaint to our attention. We do not use any petroleum products anywhere in the house.
