Like another traveler, Blue Heron saved us when the Bonner Bridge was closed following hurricane Matthew. Although much of the staff had not been able to get there, they provided a clean room and bath and a warm welcome. We didn't use the amenities but I would certainly like the opportunity to return and let the owners know how very...

We were heading to vacation at Frisco but had to stay at Nags Head due to the Dare County road closures following hurricane Matthew aftermath. We've chosen to stay at this motel and we certainly didn't regret it. Super friendly and helpful staff, beautiful views from both sides of the room (one to ocean and one to the sound), big...

If you want to experience the beach the way it was decades ago, this is the place! If you don't mind climbing stairs, a third-floor room will give you a lovely view of the water with no one above you. The screen door to the balcony lets you experience the sound of the waves all night long, and there's a...

Stayed for two nights over a weekend and found the Blue Heron a perfect spot for a quiet getaway. Our room was very clean, the carpet looked relatively new, the towels and linens were more than acceptable. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Pool was awesome as were the views from our third floor room. The hotel was booked,...

Back again for another week at the Blue Heron. This time we were able to reserve a room on the third floor with a full kitchen and king bed. For two adults, the space was very comfortable. We tend to cook all of our meals, and the space was adequate with a full size refrigerator, full sink, microwave, large table/4...

My boyfriend and I were very happy with our stay at Blue Heron! The motel was budget-friendly at less than $200 a night while also being oceanfront with an excellent ocean view. We loved the balcony and ate all our meals there and woke up early to watch the sunset (and the surfers)! The motel room itself was clean, although...

It is a very clean and quaint motel. We met two different families during our stay at The Blue Heron, who had been repeat customers for 25 plus years. I found that to be very impressive. Staff is top notch, friendly, and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

While on a motorcycle trip of the OBX we saw the vacancy sign at this place and stopped in. The only room available was on the 3rd floor but the place looked nice and we were tired of riding. So very happy we took the room! The views from the private, ocean view balcony were worth the climb! And room...

This is our 3rd and possibly last trip to the Blue Heron. In the past, our room has been completely clean upon arrival and well maintained. Neither of these things were true upon arrival this time. The hotel still offers a great price and the staff is friendly, but we've been turned off by the lack of cleanliness. We'll look...
