The Holly is part of the Pinehurst Resort. It is a small, quaint old hotel with good Arts&Crafts details. We stayed in room 302. It appeared to have been last updated a number of years ago. Wall paper seams were peeling around the Hvac unit. Poor lighting and no ventilation in the bathroom. TV is small and funky but you... More

Hi Suzanne, Thanks for taking the time to review the Holly! We're planning to begin updating the rooms at the beginning of next year. The wallpaper will be fixed and a nice cover is being made for the HVAC unit. We're also adding some additional lighting, new drapery and carpet. We're so glad you enjoy the charm of the Holly... The Pinehurst Resort is terrific for golfers, great courses in every way. Nine eighteen hole courses. We played Nos. 2 (where US Open was played a few years ago), 4, 8 and 9. Each very beautiful, in somewhat different ways. Challenging, interesting, fair, not unduly punitive of stray shots but reward good ones. Beautifully maintained. (By the way, I liked... More

The Holly Inn is perfectly located a stones through from downtown Pinehurst, They have great food in all of their restaurants for all budgets each with their own atmosphere. I traveled there in June for the IAGTO conference and every aspect of Pinehurst and The Holly Inn exceeded my expectations. The staff was very international and super friendly who really... More

First off, the hotel is Old, but the staff is 1st class and understands service. They great you by your name and are always available to help. I did not hear one no or no we can't do that. We shipped clubs early to arrive and they were waiting for us at the Holly Inn. Only complaint, is no water... More

I really love this place. Walking through the halls is a trip into the glorious history of Pinehurst. The beds were comfortable and room spacious. The bar is quite small, so do your drinking somewhere else, but drop in and ask the bartender to tell you about the history. Tip: Try to get a room in the "newer" wing.

We spent three nights here for a meeting. It is a lovely place. The hotel, built in 1895, is historic indeed, but lovely. The rooms are spacious and have a charm you will not find in a chain hotel. The staff are amazing.

The Holly Inn is quaint, charming, elegant, and fabulous! The staff is great as they deliver outstanding customer service at every turn. It kind of feels like a different era with dim lighting and staff ensuring the guest has a wonderful stay. The room was well appointed and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was good. The breakfast each morning was... More

May not be the #1 place in Pinehurst but is #2 and they try harder. Good meals good rooms and a historic feel adds charm to this place. There is plenty of room at the hotel and you step out into downtown Pinehurst. Also you do not have the crowds like the Carolina hotel.

My wife and I enjoyed a spa weekend at the Holly Inn and Pinehurst Spa. We were provided the Jasmine Suite without request, which was a nice gesture. This was a two story suite with a king bed. The room itself was nice and consistent with the age of the hotel. The bathrooms were extremely clean and had the appearance... More

Wow, what a hotel. It has all the charms of North Carolina, great room, great bar, lovely pool, access to resort facilities (lake and larger pool at Carolina hotel) and is in the middle of golf town USA. Stayed with family - wife and 2 daughters. Breakfast excellent and room great size. Only slight issue was speed of Internet wifi,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Holly is one of the hotels of Pinehurst Resort, located in the center of the charming Village of Pinehurst. Built in 1895, The Holly was Pinehurst's first hotel. Every detail has been attended to inside and on the spacious grounds. Decorating the walls and floors are a series of natural botanical prints and images reminiscent of times gone by. You'll see the fine touches in every nook from the jewel-toned Tiffany lamps to the reading selection in the library to the comfort of a rocking chair in your guest room. It's no wonder the Holly is a Four-Diamond hotel. The 1895 Grille is the Four-Diamond restaurant inside the Holly. There's also the charming Tavern which offers indoor seating and outdoor dining seasonally. Free resort shuttles will transport you across the resort so there is easy access to golf, spa and all amenities. ... more   less
