Old country pub with decent basic (including en suite) accommodation - clean, nice, great staff and very helpful management. Excellent value for the money and in a beautiful location. We stayed 2 nights and would have been happy to stay more. This is worth doing!

Visiting friends in Auburn, and staying in their B&B near Carlsruhe where there are no options for eating or shopping we had great delight in dining at the Rising Sun Hotel. Lovely, clean old-style hotel, tastefully restored. Walk in off the street into a public bar and bistro and when questioning about a table, we were led to a narrow...

Stayed here for 2 nights over Easter 2017. Family booked 3 rooms. We were pleasantly surprised to find ensuite in each room. Two fluffy bathtowels provided per person which is far more generous than most well known hotels. Lovely old fashioned decor, very clean! Breakfast all provided in fridge (bread/jams/butter/milk/orange juice) cereals - tea/coffee/sugar. Bottled water in the fridge. Lovely...

We were a party of 6 old folks having dinner in late March 2017. The Rising Sun is a lovely old pub with good service. Most beers on tap were popular run of the mill brews but I loved the local Pikes ale. There is a good wine list. Every one but myself were very happy with their meal but...

After reading reviews we thought of Dining here on Friday night night but still have not yet received a response to our enquiry regarding what time last orders can be placed for dinner. So we tried to visit for lunch on Saturday. None of us could stand being inside as the odour inside was unbearable, we should have gone elsewhere...

Live in a nearby town, haven't been here for 6 months but could tell immediately things had changed. This was the closest there is to fine dining in the region, now it feels like all the other pubs. All the attention to detail has gone and whilst before there was an incentive to linger we both just wanted to leave....

The rising sun use to be a staple, however in the past year or so the management has dropped the ball. Mostly with service. One my two visits the same excuse for an hour delay between entree and main was given. The EXACT same excuse making it obviously a regular occurance with staff unable to be honest. I truely hope...

We used to go to this hotel for meals quite often, it used to have fantastic meals and service. A group of us went last night for a meal and found a huge difference. We waited for one and a half hours for our main meal, the staff were clearly stressed to the max, and it wasn't even full, not...

After having had some nice dining experiences at this hotel, we were a little disappointed with our most recent. Service was the major let down. It was either rushed, distracted or there was none at all. Our entree and main courses were tasty and presented well but unfortunately our side dish of vegetables came out only after a reminder, and...

We had Dinner there on the weekend. Great Steaks. Even had Whitebait. This too was great. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Cold beers. Lots of different dining rooms hiding out the back. Will be back there for sure.
