We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone. The room was immaculate. Cleaned to perfection. Linda and Rick are true professionals. Very accommodating and polite. Will be back in June Gene and Carolyn Di Stefano

We enjoyed three wonderful nights at the Robert Ruark Inn with another couple. The Inn is beautifully restored and decorated authentically to the period. It is also immaculate. The innkeepers were lovely and so helpful and breakfast was a culinary event. Would definitely return and recommend to others looking for a great B&B experience!

I'm sure other reviews have adequately covered the fact that the Robert Ruark provides an excellent B&B experience. The only thing that I would add is that we would recommend the Captain's Room if you want a private 2nd-floor veranda and a very big bath tub. We came to Southport mainly to relax and enjoy a peaceful couple of days;...

The Inn is charming. Hosts Rick & Linda provided us a wonderful experience with a friendly welcome; plenty of wine, cheese & snacks; delicious breakfasts catered to our dietary needs and a glass of port in the evening. Rick gave us an informative historic tour of Southport which we followed with a ride on their bikes to spend more time...

My wife and I like to slip away to B&Bs within about a 3 hour drive of Charlotte, NC. We decided that Southport was the destination and we found the Robert Ruark through an ad in Our State magazine. We really enjoyed the inn and on our personal rating system give this a near perfect rating. Southport is a quaint...

We had a very enjoyable stay thanks to the excellent care of Linda, Rick and even Moby. The have the outstanding quality of leaving their guests alone while being available at the same time. The house itself is worth the visit since it's in perfect shape. We'll most certainly stay there again the next time we're in Southport.

Dear Benjamin, It was wonderful meeting you both! Rick and I really appreciate your comment about us "being available but leaving our guests to enjoy." We try very hard to find that perfect balance. We want our guests to know that we are here for them 24/7 should they need anything but we want them to enjoy the Inn as...

Rick greeted us on arrival and showed us around and to our room. Both him and Linda are on hand if you need anything. A really lovely couple with interesting stories to share. Breakfast was a lovely experience. We especially enjoyed being able to participate in the cheese and wine in the afternoon whilst rocking on the rocking chairs and...

Our second visit with Linda and Rick was even better than our initial visit 3 years ago. Rick continues to accommodate gluten-free diets with first class breakfasts and afternoon treats. Both are so willing to provide insightful suggestions about the area. Mr. P's Bistro within walking distance is a must visit for serious seafood fans. We plan to continue staying...

Sometimes returning to a place you once lived can be a little disappointing, but my week at the Robert Roark Inn was more than I hoped for. Rick and Linda are gracious hosts and the Inn is beautiful. It is a short walk to the water front --a great way to start or end or your day. Take advantage of...

From the moment we entered the inn until it was time to go it was a wonderful experience. A basket of bottled water awaits at the front door for your walk around town. A great mattress for a restful night followed up by a delicious breakfast. Couldn't ask for a better stay. We will definitely be back!
