Angsana Teluk Bahang in Penang garners acclaim for its immaculate spaces and serene atmosphere, with travelers frequently noting the luxurious rooms and breathtaking sea views. While the hotel's amenities, including pools, a spa, and beach access, are often praised, opinions on service and value show divergence; some guests recount exceptional care, whereas others express dissatisfaction with less attentive staff and inconsistent dining experiences.
The location, though peaceful, is considered isolated by some. Room quality generally impresses, though occasional cleanliness and maintenance issues are mentioned.

Hotel's Favourite
If you would like to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, this hidden gem is the place to escape to!
Although it was school holiday week in Singapore, and many Singaporeans visited Penang, this hotel was almost deserted. There were not many people around. In fact, when I swam in the late mornings and mid-afternoons, I was the only person in the pool!
As an ALL Platinum member, who was briefly demoted to Gold, I still received a room upgrade from Superior Seaview with no balcony, to Premier Seaview with balcony. It has such great view of the Andaman sea, pristine beach, and beautiful sunset!
Rafa was the front desk staff who checked me in. He was extremely friendly, respectful and chatty. He patiently listened to my rambling about how crazy Accor Plus was. When all other hotel loyalty programs, like Hilton Honors and GHA Discovery were extending my elite membership tier (Gold and Platinum, respectively) to 2024 and end of 2023, Accor Plus chose 31 Aug 2023 as the cut-off date to determine my membership tier for the next 12 months. It was so unfair, because instead of 12 months, I now got only 8 months to earn stay points. The craziest thing was I was 400 points shy of the 14,000 points required to keep my Platinum tier. This stay at Angsana would have qualified me to retain Platinum. But, they chose to demote me to Gold anyway, just before my stay at Angsana Teluk Bahang. It was impossible to travel in Southeast Asia until the 4th quarter of 2022. So, members basically have only 3 months to earn points in 2022. And while other loyalty programs extend elite status for their members, like what I received from Hilton Honors and GHA Discovery, ALL chose to demote me. This is the worst hotel loyalty program ever!
Luckily, I still received elite tier membership recognition at Angsana Teluk Bahang, kudos to Rafa of front desk, who checked me in, Amalina, Haiza and Zul of Jendela restaurant where I have been dining throughout my stay, as well as Anis who checked me out.
Haiza deserves extra mention. She was the wait staff who had been waiting my table 4 out of the 5 days I dined at Jendela. She would return to ask me how everything was, moments after she had served my food, and asked if I needed anything. Very polite and caring, indeed!
Although the service was almost impeccable, there are perhaps a few tips and pointers for the hotel management to improve on:
1. House keeping staff should be instructed to screw all shampoo, conditioner and body wash ceramic dispenser tightly after refilling. I grabbed a ceramic conditioner dispenser by the neck, not expecting that the dispenser was not screwed to the body. The ceramic body dropped and shattered. Luckily, the hotel did not ask me to pay for it, because it wasn't my fault that the plastic dispenser was not screwed to the ceramic body.
2. Make sure that body lotion is available in the room. It was not until the 2nd night that I got body lotion, after specifically requesting for it. It should by default that hotels provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap bar and body lotion in their rooms. After hours of exposing my skin to harsh sun light and chlorine in the swimming pool, my skin got super dry. I was about to head to town to buy body lotion, but luckily housekeeping staff came for turn-down service, and provided the body lotion I requested.
3. A resort hotel with private beach should provide beach bag in the room for guests to use. There was no beach bag in my room. All beach resorts I have stayed at in Bali, Sanya and Maldives which have their own private beaches, provide beach bags in their rooms.
Overall, this was an amazing resort! I will definitely return again!

Travelled after interstate travel ban was lifted and there were some major checking in issues due to problems which were later explained to us by the GM. GM and Manager on duty compensated us fairly for our troubles, luckily we were there for 4d3n, would’ve been a disaster if any shorter.
Pros
Loved the place ! New and tastefully furnished rooms with polite staff from reception to the bar , it’s hard to not find a warm smile all round. Nice beach , sea and pool with a decent water slide for children. Would recommend getting the Deluxe room if it’s within budget as it’s simply relaxing just sitting out in the balcony listening to the sounds of nature while enjoying the lovely breeze. Also the cafe like dining table helps with children and eating in. Superior room gives u the view without the balcony and dining so that works as well. Both rooms are decently spacious enough. The 50% discount for spa treatment encouraged me to try it out and it was a nice pampering treatment.
Cons
Taste wise breakfast was average at best , sound proofing for non connected rooms is pretty bad. I had trouble sleeping as my neighbor was awake till 3.45am. They weren’t being terribly noisy ,but I’m a light sleeper and could hear enough of them to be bothered.
Verdict : I will go again only if I can secure the deluxe room. The hotel owners picked a strategic location with the wind being naturally funnelled into the hotel creating a cosy relaxing experience. All things considered we had a good stay! Thanks everyone at Angsana. Special shout-out to Nazri , Michael , Kanes

Stay for family vacation right before the CMCO implemented. Lucky me :)
When arrived, i was amazed by the lovely view of the lobby when we walked in, greeted by the lady and lead us to the sofa seat and the checked in procedure take place at the sofa itself, they offer us the welcome drinks and traditional malay biscuit, what they call in malay "biscut telinga gajah" and my son love it. We waited around 20 minutes (It was quite a wait) before the front desk lady approached and briefed us the about the room and their promotion and escorted us to our room. The star is absolutely the room, they have big bath tub, 2 bath sink, amenities for two, Toilet and bathroom is separated with individual door, The room is pleasantly big although its only premier room. Whole wall is the window that can see the sea view and there is sliding door going to the balcony. The TV can share mobile screen, and that's a plus because my son loved to watch children's song and he likes it when its a big screen. The only con is the room is not quite sound proof, at night still can hear the car sound pass by. Husband and me did not have a good sleep because of the bed type, spring type not the usual foam bed. For the breakfast, its was not a good one. The only nice is the porridge, omelette and the muffin. The Siu Mai not fresh at all and also is out of shape, Butter cake is quite hard and not buttery at all. The Croissant is quite hard to bite and not flaky. The nutmeg juice is too plain. Overall food wise, not that amazing. However, the service is great and the staff is very friendly. If you come just for the sea view, the infinity pool, the beach, the gorgeous interior design room and new hotel, it was worth to stay. But for me and the price wise, i was expecting the food to be nice as well because well good food is good mood. Well that is what i expect for a 5 star hotel and new hotel. Other than that, my son enjoying the beach very much!

It's a new hotel, so the room was very nice. Came with a bathtub, separate shower, toilet and two basins. We stayed for 4 nights in a premier room with a large balcony.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We called up the day before arriving as we were concerned about the long wait during check in after reading some reviews. The staff were fantastic and got us an early check in when we arrived. We're very grateful for that. Thank you!
But there was once that we asked for extra tea bags and they never came. We had to ask for an extra bed twice.
There's not much to eat at the hotel. There's only one restaurant open for breakfast and lunch. The other restaurant on the ground floor is open for high tea at 3pm and dinner. Although the food was tasty, the menu was limited. We had lunch at the restaurant twice, and each time there were only 2 tables occupied. I guess most people went out to eat.
Although the hotel was full, not many people swam at the pools. I'm not sure why. In a way that was a good thing too, as there's a pandemic and you wouldn't want overcrowding.
Breakfast was very busy. Buffet spread was decent, but there was no OJ for my son and he doesn't drink other fruit juices. Kids are not allowed into the buffet line. You have to wear gloves when helping yourself to the food.
There are no restaurants outside the hotel unlike at Batu Ferringhi, so we couldn't walk out to eat. I ordered McDonald's delivery!
There's not much to do for older kids, besides swimming in the pool, as they have outgrown the kids club.
There is basement parking at this hotel, and it's easy to find a parking spot.
This beach is shorter than Batu Ferringhi and is quieter and less crowded, so that was a plus point. The waves in this part of the island are calmer.
There is a list of charges if you take items from the hotel room. Most hotels give the laundry bag for free, if you want one, ask house keeping for the plastic laundry bag because if you take the cloth one, you'll be charged RM20. If you like some of the items in your bedroom you can buy them from the shop downstairs, and the hotel gave us a discount.

A maximised leisure getaways location which far from busy Georgetown and residency of Tg Bunga to throw your hectic work life aside. Entrances are greeted by security and guided to proper underground car park. Arrival at lobby with welcoming drinks under high ceiling and slight tropical wind crucially lengthen the patience to check in during public holiday season.
In premier room, the toilet is visually enlarged by wide opening sliding door. Soaking in the bathtub able to glance sunset view from the balcony with king size bed in sight. TV featuring with airplay allow me to enjoy YouTube to Spotify seamlessly as a in room entertainment while couching on a memory foam pillow. Lastly, the panoramic balcony is magnificently fill the stunting sunset scenery with Andaman sea breeze. When come to night, it’s a good stargazing spot for pillow talk.
Overall facilities such as infinity pool and beach are easily access with extra slippers provided in the room as well as offering casual gym equipment.
Aside from great exploring, I was enlighten with their fine dining restaurant No.11 ala carte menu. The cocktails were carefully selected from Jonvier. We reserved the seat and order the Wagyu MS 7 rib eyes. I was definitely amazed with the juiciness from flavoured medium-cooked wagyu and strongly believe it came from experienced chef.

Mixed experiences from my 2 nights stay.
Overall service was pleasant and friendly. No issues with check in nor housekeeping. Friendly staff.
Lovely beach and sound of wave were the best part of my stay.
Despite being one of the newest hotel, up keeping of the hotel can be further improved. The wooden structures esp along walkways needs some updating and wooden flooring in the rooms were filled with some scratches/ lines.
Walkway outside of the rooms were very wet after heavy rains and pretty slippery. Not safe for guests. Not at any fault of staff but rather the design of the hotel.
Breakfast variety was good but quality could be further improved. Sunny side up eggs are best to be made fresh, not ready made like ramly burger egg. Chinese dish with vege was yellow in colour (overcooked). For the price paid for the stay which is comparable to other hotels, fruit juice should be fresh instead. Overall QC on food needs more attention.

Dear 343elainel, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts following your stay here with us. All rooms have a great seaview. The hotel is very new, it was only opened last year. Rooms are clean and new with a fantastic view of the sea. We took the Deluxe Sea View rooms that comes with a small but adequate balcony. We sipped our coffee every morning while enjoy the sea breeze. The location is also further up north in the Penang island, a short distance further up from Batu Ferringhi so you do get a lot more privacy. Only a few things to take note off :-
1.) Limited food menu choices from the hotel restaurant for lunch and dinner.(maybe still new)
2.) No food available yet at the beach bar. (Also still new, heard they would have BBQ later)
3.) Occasional 'public crowd' in the beach area, we have seen the security guard chase them away, but not all the time. (Something pretty annoying, as some of them started to camp right infront of the hotel beach)
They also follow strict SOP during the Covid period.

Booked a 2BR Deluxe Suite for 3 nights, was overwhelmed by the warm hospitality of the staff, nothing seemed too much to ask for, as guests are always treated as priority, the typical Banyan Tree service (Banyan is more for couples while Angsana more for families).
Love the spacious and brand new feel, on checking in at 430pm, we waited till 515pm and were told that our room was not ready; and was offered an alternative room to freshen up or complementary dinner at the Jendela, excluding alcoholic drinks. We opted for an early dinner and was escorted by Sam the front desk officer who did our check-in. We were again pleasantly surprised with the quality of dinner, though I was apprehensive about hotel meals in general. Kudos to chef Hamizi (floor manager brought him to us after we complimented his cooking) for a very tasty steak, Tempurong fish and Nasi Angsana, simply delicious.
All rooms are sea view and strong breeze enhances the stay. Rooms are clean, equipped with luxurious toiletries, love the jacuzzi at the front yard, and the bath tubs in both rooms. The suite comes with a small kitchenne, and provided wine glasses, some plates and a microwave which is nice to heat up the takeaways. We requested for a wine opener, the staff who delivered it offered to open the wine but could not leave the opener in the room. This was the hiccup with untrained staff, we had to reassure him we will return the wine opener after usage, as we have brought few bottles of wine for the trip.
Buffet breakfast offers a good variety but tend to be repetitive after a few days. While it was nice to have fresh salmon sashimi, as family resort it could probably alternate the pancakes with waffles, hash browns with boiled potatoes and some nuggets for the kids. Our special thanks to Ridzuan the floor manager who accommodated our request for waffles, it was worth the wait despite being at the tail end of breakfast time.
We managed to catch up with a friendly staff Vinh, the Vietnamese manager who was also in charge of the opening of the resort and stuck in Malaysia due to MCO. We were told that the resort received a whopping 500 rooms booking for the school holiday season, on the day that interstate travel was allowed in early December. That caused the resort to be slightly understaffed as the relaxation of interstate travel was not expected. They have since increased the work force so it will be less of an issue going forward.
Despite the minor setbacks, Angsana has worked its best to overcome their shortcomings. As a regular traveler who appreciates genuine hospitality, we will definitely return to stay again, before the hotel is flocked with international travelers when the pandemic in under control.

This is definitely the best view facing the sea (in fact, all the rooms are facing the sea). Although the room and view were nice, I found the service lacking. I requested water bottles and I had to call twice (after waiting for more than 2 hours). Also, the faucet is leaking and one of the doorknobs (in the room) is loose. And there are a lot of ants in the kitchen area too (so I'm not sure whether the housekeeping really cleans the room properly or not). We had lunch at the restaurant (Jendela), and the food was nice but not worth the money because the portions were quite small (more like a kid's portion). We ended up having to eat outside again since we weren't full. Unfortunately, the hotel is located quite far away and you have to drive a bit to reach the town area (if you plan to eat outside, or you can always order Grab/Foodpanda, but prepare to wait at least 30-45 minutes). One thing I like most about this hotel is that it's located far from the tourist area, so there are fewer people (though it's a public beach). Overall, I did enjoy the stay due to the magnificent sea view but will suggest the management improve the housekeeping service.

Just completed my four nights stay at Angsana Teluk Bahang. There wasn’t really like a “wow” moment when I first stayed at Angsana last year but I was quite impressed by a few moments mentioned below.
The room I received was on the 17th floor, boasting an incredible sea view. Unfortunately, the soundproofing was relatively weak. I was staying on the third floor at first but requested to move to another room due to weak soundproofing.
Although the breakfast and dinner buffet were 6/10 at best, the service provided by the staffs were quite impressive. I had some memorable moments at Jamboree (excellent service by Mac) as well but they were a bit overwhelmed by the amount of patrons. The live band was freaking incredible (the kind where I didn’t want to leave). In particular, Haziq from the breakfast buffet, and Isahak and Amalina from the weekend dinner buffet were really amazing. I was genuinely surprised by the service they’ve provided, considering they are priced lower than some major hotel brands. Put it this way, the service I received at Jendela was more hospitable than what I’ve experienced at the Ritz-Carlton KL. The staffs at the swimming pool were very friendly as well.
However, the thing that surprised me the most is the warmth of the housekeeping team (especially Nayeem). He is very attentive and remembers tiny yet important details. Very very friendly, helpful, and warm-hearted. I’ve stayed at several Ritz, W, FS, and Sofitel properties but I’ve never had anything memorable from their housekeeping department. Nayeem really made a difference during my stay at Angsana. At this point, I would be disappointed if the management does not commend Nayeem after reading this review.
Some may argue that the hotel is not very well-maintained (which I also agree) but imo, the exceptional service provided by the staffs definitely “enhance” my experience at Angsana. The service provided by Nayeem and Amalina was definitely comparable to a Ritz or W property. I look forward to staying at Angsana again.
