Detailed Reviews
I treated myself and my dog Dannyboy to three days at the Ranch. We live in Lincoln City Oregon. Our trip was 1/7/2020 to 1/10/2020. The owners, BEV & GERD VOIGT, Chief Gerd were the most gracious, warm and fun hosts! The food was a real treat, gourmet and filling!
Bev and I went for a trail ride and in spite of my time out of the saddle it was a safe and such a fun ride! I realized how much I missed my horses! The horses are loved and well cared for. My dog Dannyboy was also welcomed on the ranch and made friends with Bev & Gerd's sweet dogs.
My room was extremely clean (sorry about the dog hair we left!) And the bed was very comfy. The community area had all I needed, with full refrigerator, and food preparation area.
If you love open space, horses, excellent food, good company, comfortable accommodations, or any one of these you will have a very enjoyable time!!
I loved my stay for so many reasons! Thanks for the memories and and we will be back!
Cheers, Jan & Dannyboy

Fun trail ride! We were out for two hours with 2 guides (Abigail and Victoria took good care of us) and had a most enjoyable time. First time I’ve gotten to trot on a trail ride (multiple times). Location was very convenient to Parksville. Good value for money!

We (two couples) were returning from a one-week kayak trip off Vancouver Island’s west coast. If we drove into the evening we could have made the last ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver. We found that Paradise Acres Ranch, a quiet rural riding centre, had two rooms open for Bed and Breakfast. We followed their recommendation for dinner then settled into the really comfortable and well appointed en suite rooms - one king, one queen. We eyed the pool table and thought about the hot tub but sleep called.
Breakfast was ‘to die for’ (vegetarian at our request) fluffy pumpkin pancakes with fruit toppings and generous café lattes.
We made our ferry reservation in good time, feeling very pleased with ourselves.

We are very glad you decided to 'relax and enjoy' the last part of your vacation with us. We hope that next time you will book 'a couple of nights' and enjoy the pool table as well as our new swim spa and of course... the hot tub... It was a pleasure spending some time with you.

My family came here in August 2016 and it was a wonderful experience! We enjoyed incredible views, with hay fields and snow capped mountains in the background. The rooms are very high-end and and the games room and common areas gave us enough room to spread out. After spending vacations crammed into hotel rooms with two kids this was a nice change. The Chef makes spectacular breakfasts and the hosts are really friendly and welcoming. The horses are friendly and well-cared for - it is great to watch the many activities going on at the Ranch! I definitely recommend a trail ride. My son and husband went on a long ride and had a great time. They climbed hills, crossed streems, and went through beautiful rainforest areas. They were able to learn some new skills from the very knoedgable guide. The ranch is located close to Rathtrevor Beach and the Englishman River (less than five minutes away...) the town of Parksville. There were so many things to do in the ranch and in the area that it wasn't surprising we had a wonderful time here.

+1
Negative: Not cosy or romantic for a couple anymore as noted on reviews at least in Mountain (or Paddock) room section. Photos on website are misleading. RV / trailer parking nearby on the property and in our view from room and patio (see our photos). Not cosy - the space had a foosball and pool table in the sitting area which a note said would be shared with others if it was not the pandemic. Roll away single bed in the hallway was an unsightly use of space for the price. No breakfast as noted on website reviews - now is coffee, coffee mate, & a basket with kids treats / mini-granola. King size bed so-so comfortable (though the fir floors are nice in the bedroom). Would be appropriate for a family with teenagers who like a pool table & foosball - and if you had friends staying in their RV nearby on the property or tenting on the property they could join you for dinner downstairs/outside in the large BBQ area.
Typical odd detail - because it was not a proper kitchen, the kettle could not be plugged into the wall socket and I had to put it on the floor to use it - an extension cord would have been helpful.
Misleading pricing from the website - said $249 but then an extra 80 dollars in cleaning fee and tax was added which was in small print and lower down on the email reservation.
Positive: Apartment-like space on second floor with a games room instead of a kitchen and attached to the ranch house - good for family with teenagers. Clean. You could book a trail ride if you have time. Clean looking raised hot-tub with a tiny raised swimming pool attached - but no seating or palm trees as in the photos they have posted. Refrigerator and a coffee machine. A washroom was private to our bedroom. There was a second bedroom, locked, and nobody stayed there when we were there; and there was a cot in the hallway which we did not use - space would be best if you have teenagers though would cost the extra room fee. It was on a beautiful property with horses. There was coffee, tea, sugar and Coffeemate provided

We are a family of three with a 7-year-old. Camped in our westfalia and did a 2 hour trail ride. All of the staff were very friendly! Scenery is beautiful! It was a thrill for our daughter to spend so much time with their horses. Will definitely go back.

The wife was EXTREMELY rude to us every interaction when we went. Very poor people skills. The husband was very nice on the other hand just very anal about things. And the trail rides are less trail and more just straight up Bush whacking until you get to a gravel pit and walk around that for a while. Beautiful property but will definitely NOT be back.

Hello there; I am not sure who you are; as there is no name ...but given that we don't know - I will deal with each of your points in a more-general fashion. The West Coast of BC has many trees and we are happy to be able to ride through them both 'on and off' the property'. No 'bush-whacking' involved. There is not much 'open-land' around but we do have 'more than most' with the 125 Acres and the mountain-view Hay Field you would have ridden through to return to the Ranch. I don't know if you did the one-hour or the two-hour ride but the two-hour is nicer and you learn more as you go... (There is also no gravel pit... maybe the turf farm you pass through on the other end of the property? or the ponds that are full of water in the winter...) If it seemed to you that I was rude - I am sorry that you feel that way. I can say it would have had to do with 'one of two things'. The most-likely is 'Safety'. Sometimes I have to be abrupt in order to keep everyone safe - that is the 'MOST IMPORTANT' task on the Ranch. If there is something that could cause you or anyone else (or a horse) harm then sometimes my intervention can seem harsh or rude to stop a 'bad thing' from happening in the next 'split second'. I usually try to explain what has 'just happened'; but if you are not 'horsey' you will possibly not understand. My husband is also very safety-conscious so perhaps this would explain your comments about him... The other reason I could possibly appear rude would be if you 'show up late' for your ride. Our website describes and we do the same on the phone... 'Please arrive about fifteen minutes prior to ride time' to get ready for your ride. We gather the horses from the fields, brush and saddle them up for 'your ride time'. If you arrive late you are making everyone 'wait around' for you. This often includes 'other riders' who have been conscientious on their arrival time plus staff. This is just 'not fair' to anyone; so we 'hustle you along' so as not to have further delays. We try to 'keep you moving forward'. Yes, the property is beautiful and the horses are fantastic 'well-loved' 'four-legged friends' who give a good part of their day to take out 'mostly- inexperienced' riders on the trails. We treat them well and do not have them stand around' tied to hitching posts' for long periods of time waiting to serve... We hope our riders will consider the needs of all when they come to the Ranch. Usually it is a very enjoyable, rewarding experience for all involved. That is our goal and we work hard to achieve to make it a GREAT experience. As you can see from the other reviews - we normally 'over-achieve' our goals... We will continue to work hard in this regard.

My husband and I were passing through on our way to Nanaimo and needed a place to stay for the night. The Paradise Acres Ranch popped up on the ‘near me’.
It was such a wonderful surprise and experience. We stayed in the ‘Studio’ above the barn. The view of the horses in the paddocks, and the mountains was just wonderful. The studio was exactly what we needed after weeks of camping. Comfy bed, Full kitchen, fantastic hot shower.
The next morning we decided to take a trail ride. It was so beautiful and relaxing. Ginny, our trail guide was such a joy! The horses were wonderful. We wished we could have stayed longer and experienced more of life on the ranch.
Bev and Gerd are so welcoming, attentive, and relaxed hosts.
We highly recommend a stay here, whether for a night or plan a long stay! We know we will be back.

My husband, 12 year old daughter, and I spent four nights and five days at Paradise Acres and enjoyed the well-appointed, clean, and comfy Mountain View room and the shared (with one other B&B room) games room/kitchen/relaxation space. It had everything including a foosball table, a sauna, beautiful back-deck area, and a little library alcove (where my daughter found a great illustrated "all about horses book". We went on trail rides (led by awesome guides Millie and Caroline), and had English riding lessons with an amazing instructor), and spent hours mornings and evenings visiting all the beautiful and well-cared for horses. My daughter learned a lot about tacking up, grooming, and riding thanks to the knowledgeable and caring staff. There were bikes that we could scoot around on, a hot tub and swim spa pool, and did I mention hanging out with the horses? Another highlight was breakfast time - seriously delicious, different everyday and prepared by Chef Gerd. Bev and Gerd are excellent hosts, and the Paradise Acres Ranch is obviously a labour of love. Feels like being home. Did I mention hanging out with all the horses? :)
