After spending at least a week there every year for the last seven I have come to consider Cape Breton a second home, and Castle Moffett my home within a home while there. Located centrally on the Island (near Baddeck), Castle Moffett provides a great base for exploring the Island (and for me a great base during the annual, 10-day...

Great place, fantastic views, extremely clean and comfortable suite. We received outstanding personal service by Linda and her staff! Her 20+ years on the island and her intimate knowledge of the area was priceless when it came to planning our days. The included sailboat cruise was wonderful and the Fortress Louisbourg was worth the drive. Breakfast each morning was exquisitely...

My husband and I recently made a 3000 km trip by motorcycle to see the Maritimes for the first time. We booked in advance a 3 night romantic stay at "Castle Moffett". No words can describe the disappointment at the price we paid to stay at this "lodging". I'm not sure how this place got a 5 star rating, but...

We booked a reservation in June of this year for a stay at Castle Moffett this coming October. Our credit card was immediately charged $1700. Upon further research we concluded that this property is overpriced. Within 10 days of our initial reservation we called and cancelled. Upon reviewing our credit card statement, it was discovered that they had only refunded...

Let's start with the positives at Castle Moffet. The setting is beautiful on a hillside with a babbling brook. Nature is always amazing. The grounds and interior of the building are neat and clean. But like the hillside that this "castle" is perched on, everything from there was downhill. The phony Castle is a white washed plywood 1990's structure with...

There is a line between creating an illusion and taking advantage and this proprietor crosses it. We reserved the three night romance package and made dinner reservations for the first night in advance at the owner's suggestion at the bottom of the reservation email confirmation. Non-refundable pre-payment was required, and we now see why. This would have been atrocious at...

My daughter and I stayed at the Castle for one night while visiting Nova Scotia. We loved the place! The grounds were beautiful, the lake view breathtaking! Linda made us feel right at home, she was so gracious . Dinner was delicious. The room with twin beds and fireplace was comfortable , made for a princess! We felt pampered here,...

Castle Moffett was our final stop on our honeymoon trip throughout Cape Breton. We definitely saved the best for last! The house had a unique and fascinating design and decor. The property was breathtaking! We could have admired the house and land for hours! Upon arrival we had a chilled bottle of champagne...a luxury not found often. Included in our...

Castle Moffett is awful in so many different ways. The design concept is hopelessly outdated (it looks to be styled in the 80s, though not in a chic retro way at all) with nary an update along the way. The architecture of the house -- totally heinous, cheaply built. The towels and linens in the rooms have been washed about...

Pricing is not commensurate with the quality of the facility. Tatty towels that seem to have been used for years. Velour blankets on a SOFT mattress (read:back pain for two days afterwards). A 90's-chic design aesthetic. Wi-fi that is spotty at best throughout the facility and not present at all in the dining room "by design." Both the pricing plan...
