This hotel would rather stick to a strict cancellation policy than make accommodation due to illness. Hotel had at first agreed to verbally charge a 1 night cancellation fee but then changed their mind to charge 2 nights as per strict 48 hour cancellation policy. Also would not agree to apply a credit to a future visit. Lost a customer...

My husband and I checked into the Waddell at the end of a weekend of cycling. What a fantastic surprise - the hotel is beautifully situated right downtown, our room was huge and tastefully appointed, the staff was helpful, but the icing on the cake was that we arrived right when the salmon were running up the Ganaraska River. We...

Anyone needing a place to stay in Port Hope should stay here. Our room overlooked the river with a fireplace and a four poster bed. The attached restaurant has great food for breakfast and dinner made with fresh ingredients. Everyone is friendly and very accommodating. A real home away from home.

Nice boutique hotel near by the Port Hope River. There is a pleasant bar& restaurant at the entrance. I stayed only one night. It was such a nice old decorated, clean room. I highly recommend this hotel!

The Waddell Hotel & Trattoria Gusto are exceptional! I just had my Wedding there on October 15th, 2016 & the staff worked so well to give us the day that we wanted! The rooms are large and interestingly laid out & absolutely gorgeous - my family had booked many of the rooms so I got to peak at them all!...

We only stayed one night on our way to Toronto but this place felt good: from the young man at the reception to the staff at the restaurant to the person in charge of housekeeping, everyone was friendly and smiling! The room itself was quaint with very high ceilings, windows that open up for fresh air and lots of space....

Booked in May for our stay for 2 nights in September. The room was okay. The bed was too soft, you could sink right in. ( we are fairly small people) The carpet was old with spots marks all over. The carpet in the stairs was cleaner then our room.... very sad.The toilet was so close to the tub that you...

I was attending a Wedding near Port Hope and the groom suggested the Waddell. I am glad that we were able to get a room. The room itself is very large but the furnishings and the TV were decidedly old and by old I mean a combination of nice antique furniture, a rock chair and a nice Oil painting and...

We stayed two nights at this gorgeous hotel and could easily have stayed longer. The people were friendly and accommodating, the food was absolutely delicious, and the room -- the room! The layout, furniture and decor were all so much more than we were expecting. We were doing a cycling trip and it felt so wonderful coming 'home' to our...

Driving along the Lake Ontario to Niagara we stopped and spent one night at Port Hope , a little town with a small Marina; The Waddell is at The end of the main street running straight between the city and on the river. Rooms are large and with a retro style well combined to the hotel architecture . In the...
