A nice property to visit for a couple of days. Room was satisfactory, decor was nothing exceptional. Breakfast in the dining room was tasty, but we were not impressed with the limited dinner selections or sides for the price. The desserts were very good. Beautiful lobby and bar area. Highly recommend going to Omega Park for an adventure.
As always, a relaxing and rejuvenating stay. I was happy to get one of the old rooms that still has charm and coziness. I hope you keep some of the rooms in the old style as that lends to the charm and authenticity of staying in a log cabin. Otherwise it's just another hotel room...
Restaurant food was horrible with a limited offering. The cushions in the lobby are all worn out. They offer double beds… for a Fairmount. I taught only hotels with lower standards would offer double beds! Wanted to cross country skiing, but the horse carriage went over the trails… so it was unpleasant to do it
My partner and I checked in for a brief stay at the Fairmont Montebello (2 nights). Upon arrival we encountered a few issues; - Bathrobe unavailability in room due to a shortage - leading us to run around the resort in search of bathrobes so that we could begin enjoying the pool and various amenities. - The room had not been properly cleaned prior to our arrival - Garbage on floor, Blood on toilet roll, Dirty toilet bowl, Empty shower gel and snot in bedsheets. We immediately went to the Front Desk to communicate these issues and requested that the room be done up properly as the cleanliness was supbar and completely unacceptable. We vacated the room to allow for housekeeping and upon returning to our room past midnight, we were extremely disappointed to see that nothing other than the bloody toilet roll had been removed. All other aforementioned issues were not resolved. I promptly made my way to the Front Desk yet again where I was informed that at that time there was nothing that they could do as the resort was fully booked and housekeeping was unavailable. The following morning, we were contacted by the Manager who addressed the issues and compensated our stay. Unfortunately, we encountered an additional issue at billing whereby my credit card was charged a total amount of $5,300 as I was billed at a rate of $4,000/night. Considering there are no rooms at this rate, Front Desk should have immediately noticed the error prior to posting the transaction to my statement and sending the final bill for our stay. Needless to say, what was supposed to have been a relaxing weekend getaway ultimately turned into a stressful stay with issues that are completely unacceptable per Fairmount standards.…
We thoroughly enjoyed practically everything about our stay at Fairmont Montebello. The location is supreme with wonderful restaurants just down the street. The winter activities at the hotel were so much fun. We would have liked more activity availability during weekdays such as dog sledding, horse and carriage rides and more hours for Curling clinic. Otherwise, the activities that were available such as cross country skiing, tubing, ice fishing and snow shoeing were amazingly fun and very well organized. All of the snow gear rentals including the boots were in great condition and we really appreciated that. The outdoor premises of this hotel is vast and stunning. The room was very clean (although we did have to request housekeeping daily). For a hotel of this class, I would expect that housekeeping would be provided without request. I would also like to see turndown service in the evening and this can be by request. The lobby is so comfortable and cozy. My family loved sitting by the fireplace playing games and getting hot drinks at the bar. The only issue we had and honestly were quite surprised by, was the food. It was simply horrible. The dinner lacked any flavor and the options were mediocre at best. Absolutely, no nutritious or delicious food items were served. Even the breakfast was very lacking and we tried both the buffet and a la carte. We have been at lower class hotels that served much better buffets than this. Not sure what happened with your food but this should really be addressed. It will not deter us from coming back as we found wonderful restaurants just a 2-min drive (10-15 minute walk) from the hotel. This was a birthday getaway for our eldest son and we couldn't be happier! Our youngest wants to come back for his birthday too. Thanks for a wonderful stay Fairmont Montebello!…
Incredible guest service offered by every single staff members! The property itself is a gem, but the service is exceptional and I can’t find a best way to describe than saying incredible and exceptional!
We have been visiting Chateau Montebello for over 50 years. While we love sitting around the fireplace in the lobby on a cold winter's afternoon, we were very disappointed with the restaurant. The menu for dinner is limited and expect to pay $260 for 2 people (1 drink each and no dessert). The $64 steak with squash spaghetti was unappetizing. I also ordered the scallops appetizer, and was surprised they were raw (the waiter might have warned me). And no table cloths or candles on the tables! The buffet breakfast was a highlight of our stay, however, with lots of selections, although expensive ($82 for 2). The service was uneven: we ordered drinks while sitting around the fireplace and had to ask twice before they arrived after 45 minutes. While we would love to return and once again enjoy the cozy environment, we are reluctant due to the sub-standard restaurant. …
Overpriced for the stay. I had heard so many good things about this location that I was expecting magnificence but got mediocre. The room was clean but lacked in extra blankets or pillows. The dining experience was way overpriced. Honestly, it shouldn't cost close to $25 for a glass of wine (for an average wine)….not horrible or great...just average. As a non meat eater there was no consideration in lowering the price for a dish when the meat was removed. So not thrilled with the place and will not go back.
This hotel is certainly one of a kind. From the rustic look, to the stunning fireplace centerpiece, to the outstanding food and service. There is no other like it! This property makes you feel that you are in the middle of nowhere, but with all of the luxury.
Over priced plus you have to pay a resort fee in the winter when there is no resort. Plus the pool was only open 9-5. We went and got a tea downstairs to walk up to our room and they charged us a 15$ room charge!! And the restaurant very over-priced. Even the breakfast which was only ok set us back 80$. The bed was so soft and uncomfortable. The tables and seating around the main fireplace were dirty and pillows old and worn. A very mediocre stay for such an expensive place. The town was lovely.
