Detailed Reviews
We had a great stay here until check out when we were accused of burning a bed sheet that we did not damage. We noticed the mark when we checked in but did not think to report it to the front desk. Upon check out, they told us they were charging the full $150USD deposit for ONE top sheet. Although we refuted their claim, it became our word against the cleaners and they were not going to believe us. They then reduced it to $80USD (still ridiculous), and finally $42USD. The girl at the front desk essentially said she would have to pay for it herself if we did not. This is wholly unacceptable for a property that charged almost $300USD per night. We felt like we were being scammed and guilty without any sort of recourse. We also asked to speak to a manager, who was not on site on a Sunday when most people check out. This ruined what was a very enjoyable weekend up until that point.

What a great time we just had at the Ojo Azul. Thanks to Daniel for helping make our stay perfect with transportation and wine tours. The resort is very quaint and modern and you feel right at home. Beds are comfortable and bath products are nice. Some rooms offer private fire pits but unfortunately we did not reserve one. There is a heated pool and hot tub which is great after a long day of tastings. The restaurant is quite good as well. We enjoyed breakfast daily with fresh OJ and coffee. We also ate dinner at the restaurant twice because the food was so good especially the beef filet. The location of the hotel is off the beaten path so if you don’t have a car or driver you are a bit stuck. It did close early on two nights so we felt a bit rushed to eat. There was great live music on the weekend which brought in quite a crowd. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone visiting the Valle. Salud!

Ojo Azul's dining experience combined outstanding hospitality and culinary talent to create a unique dining experience. The helpful and welcoming personnel who supervised the smooth and accommodating reservation procedure were great. The beautiful interior design, classy atmosphere, and perfect lighting at Ojo Azul offered us a refined/romantic night in their main cellar room. Lastly, the chef's seven-course meal is a masterpiece of certainty and creativity.

We went for a wedding party over the summer and were very much looking forward to staying at this place. Upon arrival we noticed a sulfur smell coming from half of the resort and our room happened to be in the stinky zone. When we went inside the room we noticed the smell coming from the bathroom/ sewer. Our friends staying nearby also said their rooms stunk. On top of that sewer smell they had this horrible automatic air freshener that would emit this toxic artificial smell so the entire room smelled like that on top of the sewer. We noticed crumbs all over the floor by the bed and asked the front desk to send housekeeping but they only came with a broom and pushed the crumbs around. I asked if they had a vacuum and they said they didn’t. What hotel doesn’t vacuum their floors and carpets?! On top of all of this we were charged a ridiculous amount for the two nights we stayed there. Our two friends that both booked on their website like us had their rooms for a significantly lower price. When I asked to speak to the manager about this she was never available when I was in the hotel. I had wedding activities during the daytimes and no one was able to help me in the morning or evenings apparently. Finally, I called the manager and went back and forth with her on the phone and via email about our complaints and she ghosted me by suddenly not responding. We were hoping to get refunded for some of our room rate since we were over charged and the room was less than satisfactory in cleanliness and service. All of us in the wedding party that stayed there had an issue with the smell but there was no acknowledgement from management about it. Needless to say we will never be going back there and we will be telling all of our friends not to either.

We paid over $300 per night and never had a working toilet. We vacated the room 6 times over the weekend to have it fixed only to have it flush once and then start to overfill and not flush. In most places in the Valle you can not flush toilet paper and we are seasoned central and South American travels. Never did but who knows about those around us. They would not move us. There was no manager in duty to offer apologies or compensation for our troubles. I was promised a call but never received one.
Food at the restaurant was good. Wine tasting took a bit of doing but we got one scheduled. Nothing special about the wine but our wine server was really great. Best thing about the weekend.
They say no outside coolers on the premises but I think they mean the pool area. Hard to tell since they did not enforce either.
Parking is far from the rooms
I will not stay there again. I bring my friends down often. Stay elsewhere.

My husband and two of our friends (husband and wife) visited Ojo Azul and had a late lunch at this vineyard. Let me just say that every staff member was incredibly receptive and professional. Our waitress was Xochitl and she was such a fun person who suggested a few of the dishes we had. We shared an octupus cooked in a creamy guajillo chile sauce and also their bone marrow. Both dishes were incredibly delicious. We all had their surf and turf, at the suggestion of Xochitl, which was a rib eye and shrimp. Both were cooked to perfection and extremely tasty, We will definitely return. My husband wrote a separate review for our wine tasting class in their wine cellar with Salvador (Chava) who was an incredible sommelier. Salvador was extremely knowledgeable in every aspect of wine tasting, different wines and their grapes. Thank you to both Xochitl and Salvador.

I have stayed at many different places in the area but my boyfriend and I loved staying here! It was super calming, the pool was heated and it truly felt like a getaway. Also, the food was AMAZING! Seriously, even if you can't stay here you need to go to the restaurant. We had breakfast and dinner and were blown away. We will for sure becoming back and telling everyone about this place.

We had a great stay at Ojo Azul. It is a new resort with all rooms surrounding the grape vines. Beautiful heated pool and jacuzzi with salt water. They also offer massages that you have to book in advance. Weekends they have live music at the restaurant. They also have some fire pits where you can have your drinks at night. Food was great! Highly recommend!!

This review is specifically for a wine tasting class we had at Ojo Azul in Valle de Guadalupe. My wife, along with our friend and his wife, had the privilege of taking a course with Salvador, aka Chava, who is a sommelier at this winery. Salvador was friendly and patient with our group. He had an extensive knowledge in all wines, pairing wines with different foods and teaching us about what to look for when tasting a wine. We also learned what makes a Merlot a Merlot and Pinot Noir a Pinot Noir. Salvador was extremely professional and classy!

I threw my 40th Birthday at Ojo Azul and had 20 friends total staying at the resort for the weekend. Karina at the front desk was incredible and amazing at making sure all our accommodations were in order - we booked directly though the email address at the hotel. We had 11 rooms booked. The staff even surprised me with a birthday cake in my room. I also worked with Raul for the party that I planned in the Vineyard. Everything was spectacular. Pablo the bartender was amazing and the drinks were great. The pool was heated, the jacuzzi - could have been hotter, but all in all it was an fantastic experience. I definitely recommend this hotel and would come back again.
