The place is amazing! I love the room, the fireplace at night, the pool is super pretty, the breakfast was amazing!!
The only thing I complain was that my blankets were dirty when I arrive, that was a little bit disgusting, but they change them as soon as I reported it!
It is a little bit annoying to have to wait for the shuttle to go from your room to your car or to the lobby, but its fine, I rather wait than get our car in there.
I did a massage in the spa, my fiancé and me we really enjoy it!
Over all it was a good experience. I do recommend it!

Stayed 3 nights at the end of June with my husband at Encuentro and had an overall very wonderful time there. We loved a lot about the design and our stay. As some other reviewers have mentioned, we did not think it was a great value and for the price of the rooms, we did expect a little more. I will break down pros and cons from my perspective.
Pros:
-A truly beautiful property that stands above almost any other hotel we saw in the Valley.
-Lots of privacy as there are no shared walls when you stay in an individual loft.
-The pool was really pretty and the view from the pool into the valley was quite beautiful.
-Breakfast by the pool was pretty delicious.
-Modern, clean, minimal design.
-Friendly and kind employees/staff during our minimal interactions with them.
-Staff often seemed to be having fun and enjoying each other, which I felt was a good sign.
-Sound system in the room was a nice touch
-Great for a romantic getaway

Some cons:
-We stayed at a discounted rate (approx $330/night) and over the weekend I saw that the rate went up to $540/night. This felt very expensive considering the level of customer service and quality of the stay. The staff were lovely, but minimally involved (you need to use a walky talky to call down to reception, which may be intimidating if you don't speak Spanish very well). This is not the type of place that offers room service, particularly high end bathroom products, or even attentive service by the pool. We spent 3 days by the pool and only on one of those days did one of the servers come down the steps to ask if we wanted anything. The other two days we went to the bar ourselves to order. Not a big deal at all, but for over $500/night, I would expect to be able to stay horizontal when I want a beverage.
-It is quite a dark, dusty hike from the parking area to the guest rooms at night. The hotel provided us with a flashlight, and one evening we were able to hitch a ride with their van. Another night, we had to hike in our nice clothes up to our room in the pitch black, which was a little terrifying after some wine tasting. Again, not a big deal at all, but it would be nice if they consistently had the van/driver available in the evening for guests who are not as able to do a hike in the dark. My husband and I kept saying we loved the hotel, but we would be really uncomfortable if we were older or out of shape. It's not an easy property to navigate unless you want to use the walky talky to order the van every time you come and go.
-We were never offered a tour of the winery or the opportunity to do wine tasting, information about Valle de Guadalupe, or other sort of Guest Services support when we checked in. It felt more like we were in an AirBnB in this sense.
-We were also told on our third day there that continental breakfast was included with our stay, but no one told us this at the front desk upon check in. That would have been really nice to know at the start of our trip.
-The pool was not heated, and so it was not quite warm enough to be comfortable.

Overall, it was a sexy place to stay with some really great design features and a gorgeous (but chilly) pool. Staff were friendly and warm, but I wish they had provided us with more helpful information about our stay, the valley, and their services, so that we could have taken full advantage.

We've been interested in staying at this hotel ever since seeing it in some architecture magazine. The architecture and design as well as overall idea of this hotel seemed appealing and a must to try out. When life brought occasion to visit area, we didn't doubt much about hotel selection even though price was quite intimidating for the location and level of services provided.

Highlights:
- Great design: mix of futuristic look with close integration into landscape and nature. The place seems to be a weird mix of a farm, wilderness and something looking like a Mars mission :-) Great views onto the valley and surrounding mountains.
- Great swimming pool with very little chlorine and salt water. Not too cold, not too warm, just perfect for hot weather! We spent hours in or around it and it was definitely a highlight of our stay! :-)
- Quietness!!!!! It's a great place to have a quiet rest, away from traffic noise, crowds, planes and whatever else so disturbing in large resorts and/or popular touristic spots
- Both restaurant and snack bar provided great food which is mostly local Mexican cuisine.
- Personnel is friendly and helpful, especially if you speak Spanish :-) For example we had a problem with battery in car and staff very quickly found a guy with a jump-start cable to help us out. All in all, they helped us on each and every request we made. Even though they are very happy to receive tips, there's no greediness or grudge over it.
- Place is pretty wide-spread, so hotel provides shuttle to travel around territory. However there are lots of well-kept trails for hike-lovers to walk around (personnel provides a flashlight and walkie-talkie as well as detailed instructions on how to walk around and behave in case of emergencies).
- Despite heat, temperature in cabins is pretty comfortable.
- Cabins are fairly comfy despite simple design and small space. At least for us it was as much as we needed. Everything was clean and fresh.
- WiFi is free and available everywhere - in cabins, snack bar, lobby. Signal is strong and bandwidth seemed to be really good, we didn't experience any problems with connection at all.
- There are a lot of great restaurants in area serving great local food. If you're a fan of wines - there are a lot of wineries in region where you can visit museums, do some tasting, etc.

Downsides:
- Fairly expensive and certainly overpriced when comparing to hotels providing similar service. Even though maintenance of such hotel should surely cost a lot, price is rather defined by exclusivity of hotel than level of comfort and services. Beware - price doesn't include 19% (!!!!!) of local tax, so total is even greater than posted online.
- Continental breakfast is included into room's price, but it consists of few tosts with jam/butter and a small plate of fruits with yogurt, raisins and nuts. Plus (weak) coffee and orange juice. It was more than enough for me, but otherwise leaving to want more.
- Even though design is looking great, comfort became somewhat a victim to it. For example, bathrooms were made fairly great looking but uncomfortable to use - very little space between toilet and shower and wall, water is splashing everywhere from sink as it's super shallow, shower itself cannot be regulated and has very thin stinging jets which doesn't allow to was comfortably or even properly, not enough hooks to hang towels, etc. Actually sink and shower were probably just maintained incorrectly - aerator was missing at faucet and could've probably solved splashing issue and shower should've probably be cleaned of sediment to let water flow properly.
- Swimming pool has no umbrellas, which is a big disadvantage considering the strength of sunlight and heat
- Not many among personnel can speak English. Fortunately my partner is fluent in Spanish, so we had no problems, but if I was alone there, I would definitely have some issues... Only people somewhat fluent in English were one (!) of receptionists and shuttle driver. In 4 days of stay I didn't encounter a waiter or general service person capable to understand and respond in English.
- There's no direct phone line between cabins and lobby. All communication is by walkie-talkie which for inexperienced person can be a hassle. And of course everyone can hear whatever you request as everyone is on the same frequency and you hear everyone unless you turn the thing off, which can be a source of problem if personnel tries to reach you.
- For some it will not be a problem and for many it will be a huge advantage, but smoking is not allowed anywhere excepting special area next to lobby/restaurant which is pretty far from cabins. The only real reason for that is fire safety which is a valid concern considering heat, dryness of surrounding area and winds. Though many people actually break the rules and you can see a person smoking right next to you on terrace of restaurant, dropping ashes down onto wines without much care of setting anything on fire.
- There are hardly any touristic attractions in area, so it's not a good location to travel to sites. But if you're looking for quiet, relaxation, peace, clean air and great food/wine - it's just perfect (excepting for price and commute - you'll need to have a car).

All in all it was a pleasant stay and great experience. Granted we can afford it, we'll probably return if ever brought again into that region.

What should've been a lovely experience turned into a nightmare. Our room had an issue with electronic keys, every time we left, keys would deactivate. This happened multiple times, once when we were wet at night in the cold. It took over 20 minutes of shivering before someone came to let us in. Our roller blind did not work and we had a large east facing window so were woken up at 6am by blinding light. The stereo system in the room did not work. We arrived before check in and were told we could take a shuttle up to the breakfast area and order breakfast. After 2 hours the shuttle never arrived. So we walked up the steep cliff ourselves and upon arrival we were told they were not serving any food. We were also told we would be contacted when room was ready at or before 3. At 3:30 with still no word, we walked back down to check. Rooms were ready, we were just not informed. We explained the difficulties we had had at check-out and were told we would get a credit for a free night. We explained we would prefer a refund or partial refund and were told we would get it but needed to email the manager. Two of us spent 1 month emailing with an unresponsive manager who refused to do anything (even give us the credit we were promised) and finally stopped responding.

Pricing would suggest that this accommodation is luxury/up-scale but it is not. Broken AC (rattled constantly and didn’t work.. this was during summer), cracked outdoor fire pit, moldy shower curtain, and subpar cleanliness (hair left from prior guests) contributed to the discrepancy in pricing and quality. Restaurant kitchen was closed due to renovation, complimentary fruit was offered for breakfast and later charged. Wine offered at time of check-in was not very good. Shuttles may take 20+minutes to arrive at your room, note that you need to plan accordingly. All together, very poor value accommodation; you will get better quality and service elsewhere.

One of the best boutique hotel experiences ever! The chic design aesthetic, the cute eco huts and the overall service and hospitality was above and beyond 5 stars. Every member of the staff was so incredibly kind and attentive. The pool area was pristine and the entire experience felt very unique and special. We can’t wait to come back!

From the moment we booked our trip to Encuentro Guadalupe- they were more than accomodating by helping us make reservations to wineries, creating an itinerary for us, suggesting restaurants and things to do. When we got there, we were greeted with a glass of wine and an overview of the ammenities- restaurant, pool, jacuzzi, car service, etc.

The owner and his wife were so hospitable and were always present asking how they could make our trip better. The owner, Romo, helped my boyfriend set up an engagement and had the most beautiful surprise on a hilltop with champagne and flowers at sunset. We were able to enjoy our engagement on our Private terrace with our own fireplace and a stunning view overlooking the Valle. You stay in secluded haciendas and 24/7 service with whatever you need.

There were shuttle vans to take us to and from our room to the lobby or our cars.

I cannot recommend this place enough for the service, friendliness of the staff, stunning views and ammenities, and location!

The room had a broken window the air condition made loud noise and did not cool. the toilet did not flush and the furniture was run down really bad room. The front desk manager promised the world and one week later no emails back . promised a free night . then a 50% off then zero . He blamed it on the ownership . Do not go Great Pool! but not a 350 dollar room maybe 99.00 on a good day maybe just maybe . You have been warned

My husband and I have been visiting the valle for over 10 years and have always wanted to stay here. I knew to expect ecofriendly lodging and that the rooms were decorated with simplicity. But, it was clear this hotel has not been maintained. The cheap furniture was all scratched up and was very non-functional. The rain shower head had so much rust there was barely a dribble. Lighting was poor and the concrete floors were freezing, but no rugs or slippers were provided (only a very scratchy wool bathrobe no one would want to wear). The seating next to the firepit on the patio was awkward and the front desk was unapologetic that their tasting room was closed. I asked if I could sit and have a glass of wine in the lobby while I waited for my husband and the answer was a clear no. They also have to bus you around the property which is inconvenient, so a simplicity like a small fridge in the room would have been great. Other than the chef (who was amazing!) and the friendly restaurant staff and drivers, there is no reason to stay here. At the price, there are many other places nearby with a much better guest experrience.

DO NOT COME HERE

I am never one to leave reviews but I am so dissatisfied with my stay I had to share. There is absolutely no customer service and everyone we talked to was either rude or flat out ignored us. The website lies about their schedule the restaurant was closed by 2 pm. There were radios for communication and none of them had battery. The bathrooms look old and rusted and honestly it’s just not worth $400 a night. Go to Casa Bruma or El Cielo instead. Valle de Guadalupe is beautiful but the this hotel’s customer service is flat out non existent. The one part was the drivers that were very polite and attentive.

website says children over the age of 13 are welcomed. They can't put a roll away bed in the rooms (no room) so you would have to get children their own pod. I wouldn't recommend this place for kids.
