It's a Mexican Hearst Castle. Architecture, furnishings and landscape make one feel like royalty. Owners and staff are wonderfully warm and friendly. Compares to the awahnee hotel in yosemite CA or the royal Hawaiian in Oahu Hawaii.

Hacienda De Los Santos is just magnificent! Jamie could not have been nicer to us. Our room was delightful and hanging out at the hotel was relaxing and fun. Loved the Zapata bar. Don't miss an opportunity to stay here. Only thing we didn't think was over the top were the buffet breakfasts-loved the variety but the individual items were...

Jamie was thrilled, when you made mention of her. No doubt about it, she really enjoys the guests and does her best to see that they are enjoying their "Hacienda" experience. The Hacienda breakfast buffet is complimentary for guests. It changes somewhat each day. We will talk about it and see where improvements could be made. The other option is...

My wife suggested this resort for a possible location for a yoga retreat. We arrived to be amazed at how beautifully detailed this place is decorated, kept and how meticulous the staff is at caring for us! Our room has a fire going when we arrived with fresh fruit and a tour of the grounds! Elvia was so sweet and...

We were all excited about your fantastic review of the Hacienda. You were so appreciative of the goals that work to achieve everyday. It felt good to have them recognized. Seeing your yoga poses throughout the Hacienda were another highlight for us. We saw you getting to know the village and the people and that adds so much richness to...

This town is not easy to get to but worth the effort! Alamos is a small charming colonial gem. The hotel has fantastic grounds, gorgeous rooms and exceptional staff. Quiet, restful and authentic-one of the loveliest haciendas in all of Mexico!

Many guests from outside of Mexico, walk in the door, and have the same reaction that we are difficult to get to. But, then they take a deep breath and look around and are so pleased, as you say, that they made the effort. Alamos is filled with magic and we are so happy that you were able to experience...

We've been hearing about the Hacienda de los Santos for more than ten years now from friends who have stayed there. After hearing so many great things about it, we decided to include Alamos on our next trip to Mexico and stay at the Hacienda. We expected a great place but the Hacienda surpassed our expectations by a lot. The...

From the moment one walks through the door to the Hacienda de Los Santos, the quiet beauty of the hotel welcomes. Old Spanish arched walkways frame the swimming pool (there are three others) and lead to gardens ahead. Your greeting is warm and cordial, and relaxation sets in. The thirty-some rooms are large and comfortable with all amenities (the purified...

We can tell by the number of Hotel reviews you have done that realize the importance of this feedback, not only to potential guests, but to the owners and staff. Thank you for such a delightful review of the Hacienda. The Margaritas are made, one at a time, with freshly squeezed lime juice from Hacienda lime trees. You are correct,...

Nancy and Jim provide such a warm welcome. The staffs are friendly and professional. The food was divine, and I loved relaxing by the pools as well as spending time in town at the plaza during the FAOT festival.

Thank you for your review. I really enjoyed, beyond measure, being with you and your beautiful Mom. Alamos is so unique and I was happy that you got out and about. It is very tranquil most of the year, but during the Music Festival, it is very exciting and filled to the top with great entertainment. We appreciate you made...

We have stayed here a number of times. Why do we keep coming back? The way we are treated. You would think we were family; everyone is so friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful surprise to find your fine review of the Hacienda. Our goal is to keep the property as authentic as possible, yet user friendly, for the guest of today's time. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hacienda de los Santos Resort & Spa is comprised of 18th century mansions and a 17th century Sugar Mill. An extensive restoration and renovation took the owner's nearly 25 years to complete with more than one million man hours of hand labor with the same techniques as two hundred years ago. A portion of the resort is on the original 19th century Mint for northern Mexico. The setting is in the lower Sierra Madre in the village of Alamos which is a National Monument and a national 'Pueblo Magico'. Today with modern conveniences taken to a luxury level, all suites have large screen T.V.'s discretely hidden in antique cabinetry, plus many with antique furnishings, art of prominent Mexican artists and all suites and Hacienda Guest Rooms have at least one fireplace, as well as air conditioning and forced air heat for year around comfort. There is a Andalusian stone theater with state of the art projection and sound systems, a complete library of top films for your viewing enjoyment during the day or evening. Also, two putting greens, four pools, numerous fountains, two restaurants plus a third which is the 'restaurant with a view' from the roof-top which is accessible by elevator for groups of up to 35. Also, there is a full service spa and special classes for group bookings such as cooking, art, architecture, tequila and area tours. The use of the theater, putting greens, parking, room service and mountain bikes is all complimentary for our registered guests. A 19th century 'Zapata's Cantina is a major attraction and nightly live guitar music, in the adjacent 'Santiago's Restaurant, for your dining enjoyment. No 'prepared food' is used in either of the Hacienda's restaurants. The cuisine includes 'Sonora Mexican', plus what most describe as the 'best filet mignon in the world', and a variety of International dishes. The luncheon menu includes a variety of fresh salads, sandwiches and excellent desserts. The owner's have been very pleased to have received a humanitarian award by the Governor's of Sonora and Arizona (Gov. Bours & Gov. Janet Napolitano) for their accomplishments in the village of Alamos. The resort has received a AAA Four Diamond rating for 15 consecutive years, is both a Fodor's Choice and Trip Advisor Traveler's Choice. Due to the 'Hacienda's' historic significance it is also a member of 'Historic Hotels Worldwide'. The resort was the site of an Endemol television series produced for Europe and was used in filming the 175 episode Televisa series of 'La Fuerza del Destino'. The resort also owns a high capacity hangar at the local airport which can be used for group events of up to 700 people with its complete commercial kitchen, pilot's lounge and other facilities. The airport (XALA) has a paved 5,000' runway and approved for aircraft up to and including the Falcon 20 and Lear 45. If you are planning a private flight to XALA the resort has a private aviator's web site available. ... more   less
