We have been coming here every year for about 20 years. And we love it! The staff is terrific - the food @ LoHa is outstanding. The hotel rooms are all you need for just kicking back - as well as the beach & pool....More
We have been here many times. The staff is great the food is amazing. We always go in November when it is very quiet.
The rooms are very welcoming. Always a special touch.
I hope you enjoy this place as much as we did!

We have been coming to Akumal for over 18 years. Today was very disappointing when we found out there was an $80 peso per person charge to get onto the beach because the owner of the property together with the Mexican government had an arrangement....More

You can be sure we are checking into this because once you pay for a Palapa, you are given bracelets to wear and that ensures that you do not pay for the use of bathrooms or showers. If you are consuming at Lolha , and...More
The location of this place is nice. Just on the beach and close to the "city-center". We had a family room - it was very simple and really needs an update. The pool is nice and the beachchairs are plenty and very comfortable.

The atmosphere in the hotel is relaxed, many divers and snorkelers here. Good diving facilities....More

Yes, there are many new restrictions. We were there in January, so I don't have current information. If you do a search with the terms snorkeling and Akumal, you will find extensive threads with the information you want.

The best snorkeling is a little west down the beach where you see a red flag. It starts at the Secrets resort beach and stretches west-southwest. It is a very easy short swim out past the sea grass where you can see the sea turtles feeding until the reef begins. It is very extensive and has a great variety of fish and live coral. So far the best snorkeling off the beach we have found in Mexico.
