My girlfriend and I spent 2 days there after 1 week of road trip through yucatan, and we found a lovely place with wonderful rooms, a great quiet beach with no one to disturb you while reading or having a swim. Definitely a place to recommend on the area of mahahual! Access is easy if you take the road that...

We arrived in Almaplena which was our 3rd stop after Tulum and Bacalar (both fantastic). The place is really beautiful! Whoever did the decor has super nice taste. The rooms were very well appointed and someone took the time to really think about what it is to stay in a hotel room. A big surprise for us was when the...

We believe that Almaplena ticks most of the boxes for those travelers looking for, what some might say, the Tulum of yesteryear. Remotely located directly on the beach south of Mahahual, the Italian owners are to be complimented on the resort's beautiful architecture and the well appointed accommodations of their resort. As an Eco Resort, most comforts are available from...

A large group of us cruised on NCL in January 2016. We purchased a beach day at Almaplena vs. taking a cruise excursion. What a fantastic decision! This property is amazing and the staff are equally amazing! The owners Monica & her husband were extremely accommodating and flexible. The resort is secluded and quiet just perfect for a day of...

My husband and I spent a lovely day at Almaplena. We took a taxi (cost included in resort fee) to the resort. The ride was about 30 minutes. The resort was remote and had all the ambience of a Mexican resort. The staff was very laid back. There were only about 8 people on the beach/in lounges. It was very...

Arriving by car, we were met by help to carry our bags. The room has a large bed with ceiling fan, a couch with view of the sea, large bathroom (lots of hot water) and a patio with chairs and hammock. The restaurant serves all day and the staff is friendly. They will deliver to your room or beach, where...

Owned by a friendly Frenchman and staffed with helpful but not in your face service, this is a good choice for those who want to have a nice, quiet stay on a beautiful beach. It's 8 km south of town but it just keeps away the hordes. Having a car is recommended. Note that this hotel is VERY close to...
