We went here for two nights in April '15 as excursion from our Playa del Carmen holidays. We came with our two kids (4ys / 1 yr) and fell in love with the place. Actually, we had only planned to stay one night but then we extended our stay for a second night, as we felt so relaxed and calm...

This hotel is very calm and peaceful. The rooms are well furnished and decorated with taste. There is no air conditioning but the fan above the bed is plenty enough. The beach is nice and the corals are very close. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is not very expensive but there is not much choice on the...

Mexican with an Italian flavor. Which means the coffee is good. We love this place, the isolation, the beach and the snorkeling. The view from the room is amazing and the service friendly but not overbearing. It is eco friendly so no airco and toilette water is recycled.

We just loved our stay at Almaplena. It was the perfect place to be "unplugged" for a week. The restaurant is decent but gets old quick. The rooms are nice and the perfect size for two. The only trouble we had was a broken window so it was super hot at night due to no cross breeze. I would make...

We loved this place! The people are so friendly and accommodating and the rooms are great. It's the perfect place to get away and unplugged. The restaurant is not very good but acceptable. This is not a place for someone who is looking for a rich night life or fancy restaurants. It's the lay on the beach, read a good...

We have visited Tulum a number of times previously and were looking for somewhere a little less overrun . Mahahual was described as being Tulum 15 years ago so sounded perfect. It didn't disappoint. Almaplena is a few miles from the main strip but is located right by the beach and is wonderfully peaceful, allowing for you to simply enjoy...

Made a tour from Playa del Carmen to Almaplena Hotel that took us about 3,5 hours. We were kind of lost as there was no sign visible at night to enter Mahahual-Xcalak "highway". You need to know very good the road or take with you GPS to drive at night (we did not have one, just the instruction that we...

We stayed one night in March on our way back to TULUM. The rooms are quite large, and nicely decorated and very clean. We didi not swim as the seagrass down here was the worst I ahem ever seen. The seagrass is not the hotels fault, and is a problem this year all over the caribbean. The food was goo...

Mahahual is a beautiful place. This family owned hotel is charming, I would describe it more like a B&B. We had a room with a nice Balcony with no roof so at night we could watch the stars! soooo nice. The only con is that the restrooms are kind of smelly, even the one in our room was stinky even...

We booked this trip for our port stop in Costa Maya on February 13th. I had read several reviews on how great and peaceful this place is.... and it was wonderful. First off, the booking process was super easy. Emails were sent back and forth and all directions given to us on finding taxis was very clear and easy. The...
