If you're expecting a hotel with all the amenities you can imagine then Mayan Beach Garden is not for you. This is a wonderful small resort (7-9 rooms), off the beaten path (a half hour drive to Mahahual), with decent wifi, no tvs, family style dinner (all the guests eat together with the owners), no real AC and no fancy...

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review. And you are 100% correct. That Sargasso was a nghtmare. I was so obsessed with it, but last November, the currents and the wind changed, and after a year of my nightmare, it was gone. Completely gone in a matter of three weeks. The beaches are like it never existed. I kept...

We stayed here for 1 fantastic week in March 2011 and I've dreamed of this place ever since. The beach front cabana we stayed in was 20 - 30 ft from the sea with nothing but sand in front of us. The food was by far the best we've ever had while vacationing in Mexico. The owners went out of...

I love coming to Mayan Beach Garden. The location is remote and oh so quite. Beach is beautiful and peaceful. Fantatstic snorkeling. The food is so good and the staff is just amazing. The rooms are clean and right on the beach. Can't say enough about just how great this location is. Highly recommended.

We stayed here with our two teenaged children on our way from the Yucatan to Guatemala for three nights and loved everything about this little tropical paradise. The room was spacious, we didn´t need aircon, since the breeze from the sea is perfect. The Caribbean Sea is just a few sandy steps away, a beautiful beach with absolutely nobody to...

Mayan Beach Garden is a perfect spot for those who truly want to get away from it all. Marcia and Kim were the perfect hosts, and we really enjoyed spending some meals with them. The food was fantastic, and the tortilla making class was a highlight. We snorkeled, visited local ruins, and got to know the area a little bit....

My husband, 2 adult daughters and I stayed here for 4 nights in 2 beach front king rooms. We loved the rooms as they were spacious and very comfortable. Our room was very comfortable and very cool with the breeze from the beach. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were very nice. The owners Marcia(sp?) and her husband Kim(sp?) were lovely and welcoming. The staff was also very nice. The beach was great. My only complaint was the number of biting flies, but that can't be blamed on Mayan Beach Garden!...

Thank you so much for your kind words. We love the fact that you enjoyed your time here (outside of the Tabanos). We try to control them, but those pesky things sneak back in this time of year (May - the time rainy season starts). Thank you for your understanding. Insect repellent works great on most people, and needs to...

A/C in the room would have made sleeping much more comfortable. Failing that, more fans as the stand alone bungalow we had for one night didn't catch the sea breeze very well. More comfortable seating on the patio would have been appreciated. Quiet, out of the way area on a lovely beach, kept clean by the staff. All the staff...

Hi Patti, Thank you so much for giving us suggestions for the room. We will get a standing fan right way! Sometimes cross air is better than down air, for some reason, and I appreciate your suggestion. We love our guest ideas and will look at how we can make more comfortable seating for the patio as it's true-- most...
