We decided to stay here (in July, 2016) when we came to visit Chichen Itza from Cancun, based on a friend's recommendation. It was a fabulous, not your typical hotel kind of stay. The hotel is filled with local art and the rooms have paintings on the wall too. The rooms were clean and spacious, staff super friendly and the...

There are so many good reviews here which steered us to stay at Casa Hamaca and they are all right! We stayed for two non-consecutive days during Thanksgiving week. We planned our trip this way so that we could spend TG at Casa Hamaca, as during the booking process Denis graciously invited us to his annual party and potluck. We...

Casa Hamaca is a unique blend of guesthouse, restaurant and community project. Home to Denis Larsen and staffed by wonderful local Mayan men and women, Casa Hamaca is an ideal base to not only enjoy the fabulous Mayan town of Valladolid, but to explore the many surrounding archaeological and ecological sites (many of which can be accessed on day trips)...

In May of 2016 I spent a few nights at Casa Hamaca. I was hoping to find a shaman whilst in Mexico. Not only did Denis ( the owner) find a shaman, he took the time to drive me to the shamans village where I participated in a cleansing ceremony. The cost was very cheap. My life started to improve...

My husband and I loved our stay at Casa Hamaca. It was like a brand new cultural experience, but at the same time, the staff made us feel at home. We love them. I always felt safe and the whole place is just beautiful. And the food... fantastic!

Excellent place with wonderful people. A great choice! The people were wonderful, helpful, kind, and sincere. They were bey accommodating. The restaurant was mainly slow when they delivered the food but good quality. We had a wonderful time. Villadolid is a beautiful humble place.

Thanks for your kind words. I just spoke with both the wait staff and the kitchen staff regarding your experience. The chefs are going to act more like chefs and turn some of the prep responsibilities to the sous chef. That should speed up the kitchen. Best wishes. Denis

I spent a week in Casa Hamaca with a group of teachers in mid June, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The staff was amazing, the rooms were spotless, and the restaurant connected to the hotel was wonderful. The staff of Casa Hamaca were so warm and friendly that we really felt like were part...

Our organization spent 4 days at Casa Hamaca Guesthouse and were thrilled with the accommodations, the location, the food, and the host. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The house is filled with local art. The grounds are beautiful. The host is an ex-pat with perfect English and lots of local knowledge. And the wrap around porch is perfect...

Casa Hamaca has loads of character and is a wonderful place to stay if you're in this area. Our family of 4 were here for a weekend and were delighted with every aspect of our stay. Wayne and I have been to Valladolid three times and at Casa Hamaca three times. A traveler doesn't need to look elsewhere in this lovely city. Love, love, love this place. All the rooms are very clean have a Mayan theme. The new mural upstairs is very nice, Denis. The pool is very refreshing. The staff is super friendly and...
