From the housekeeper, cooks, bartender to the manager, we were treated better than any 5 star hotel. The folks at the hotel were always smiling, helpful, and were genuinely glad we were there. The fishing guides were hard working, humorous, and never failed to find fish - regardless if one wanted to wade or fish from the boat. A far... More

Spent a week there fly fishing all over the area. Wonderful stay, excellent restaurant, clean rooms with beautiful grounds. Mosquitoes were somewhat of a problem but easily managed. The owner and staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again. Only wish it had air conditioning for sleeping.

Untouched Caribbean as you dream it. No news no shoes. No tv . No party. Just you and me and the Caribbean Sea: Pelicans over our heads, wonderful cpolours, nice service and a great ocean view appartement. We just wanted beach, tranquility and scuba diving. This is the place or fly fishing as our US neighbours, who stayed a week... More

I've been to Mexico every winter since 2003, more or less - and most winters we've spent time in Xcalak. It's always a pleasure coming back here, and this year I stayed at Tierra Maya with a friend. We didn't have a car, so I emailed owner and manager Eduardo and he fixed transport from Chetumal and back for us... More

Tierra Maya is one of my favorite places to eat. Eduardo always treats me like like a VIP and has a great sense of humor. Always willing to help, even if it's outside of his business. I really enjoy the seafood dishes, served up by Juan, who has become a very good waiter.

We spent two wonderful nights there. Undoubtedly the best option in this small town. Big room, clean, two comfortable beds, great view, silent and staff really makes you feel at home. An important thing when choosing a hotel in Xcalak is that it has a restaurant, cause in case you don't have a car, it'll be really difficult to walk... More

Clean rooms, delicious food and friendly staff in addition to kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, walking and reading made our five days fly by at Tierra Maya. We even had massages in our room. Eduardo was always smiling and helpful. When one of our rental car tires was flat he had a tester and compressor to solve the problem.

I have been traveling in the Yucatan for over 25 years. The remote village of Xcalak and the southernmost region of the area is lucky to have Hotel Tierra Maya, a small 7 room facility with a great bar and restaurant. The rooms are well kept and fairly modern, all facing the Caribbean and beach, which is only about 30... More

We came for the fishing and enjoyed so much more. The service was excellent, the food was very good, Eduardo runs a complex, busy establishment with flair and good humor. I had a problem with a fishing guide and he was very helpful in resolving the issue (even though it was not his problem). I cannot wait to return to... More
