Perhaps I should have titled this review... Ode to Al Cielo. First, I want to say many thanks to Fernando, the delightful manager/concierge who was extremely helpful to me, a solo traveler. I feel very fortunate to have stayed at Al Cielo in late May 2016. I have no business interest in this hotel. It is my understanding that Al...

I love Al Cielo. Private, quiet, everything I could ever want in Mexico. The staff was friendly and the food was wonderful. Our room was fine - beach chic. If you are expecting spotless take yourself elsewhere. If you want an amazing beachfront room on a gorgeous beach go here. We had planned on leaving and staying in another property...

I hate to write a review for this place because I don't want anyone to know about it. I want this to be my secret, and my hidden gem forever.. Words can't express how amazing, and perfect this spot is.. I've been coming to Mexico for years, and I will never go to any beach other than xpu-ha. What makes...

This hotel is small and quaint. A bit remote (there is nothing within walking distance) but nice. The beach is literally steps away from the rooms and somewhat private. We stayed in Suite La Mar which had a wonderful view of the ocean. While the room was nice we were surprised to see there was no TV or clock radio,...

In need of some rest and relaxation, I booked a five day, four night visit to the Al Cielo Hotel in April. My husband and I honeymooned at the Xpu-ha Palace Resort (now Bel Aire) 15 years ago so I was familiar with the area. Since I was solo this time, I wanted a smaller place where I could enjoy...

We spent 5 days at Al Cielo and wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel is off the beaten path about an hour's easy drive from Cancun. It is marked only by a small sign on the highway, and is down a long road to an unmarked gate. Once you arrive, you are instantly at home. Within 24 hours,...

We just got back from a 7 day stay at Al Cielo for our honeymoon. It was the most amazing experience of our lives. From the pristine beaches to the amazing Xpu Ha sunsets at night, there is just nothing like it. I have stayed at Al Cielo at least 6 times over the last eight years and my wife and I were married here. I have reviewed the hotel previously (see “As close to heaven as you're likely to find”) but Andres, who created the hotel, recently sold it to Hotel Essencia, so my review will focus on what has changed,...

We spent 4 nights at Al Cielo in February of 2016. After weeks of searching for the perfect property we chose this one due to it's small size and proximity of the rooms to the water.
