The hotel looks really nice from the outside but the room we stayed in needed modernising. Mattress was poor and you woke up every time your better half moved! Dinner and breakfast were really nice and good portions. Restaurant and bar have recently been refurbished. My wife had a massage here and highly rated it!

Friendly staff, especially the night man. Room a bit tired and a bit expensive. Nice meal in the restaurant but again expensive. The big problem for us was that they could not accommodate us for a 7am Breakfast on the Saturday morning so we could get to the track on time. We did get Coffee and Toast but having paid... More

We checked into one room which the bed looked and felt very uncomfortable but after speaking to Joy ( who was really helpful ) on reception we paid a little extra for an upgrade and were very happy with room 36. The building is old and a little worn but you have to except that with a country house of... More

The outside of this hotel is stunning. I was amazed as we drove up to it. The inside of the hotel is lovely, although parts are tired looking. The rooms are well presented with comfortable beds. There is a bath as well as a shower. The bath filled up in no time so don't turn on the taps and forget... More

We stayed here two years ago and and decided to return again as it was so good. A fantastic hotel, great food (fabulous Sunday roast and superb breakfasts). Staff as before, so friendly and helpful and bedrooms so spacious. My only slight disappointment was that there were no disabled facilities (walk in shower or handrails) for less able people. Nevertheless,... More

We celebrated a special birthday here and loved our stay. Hotel is really lovely in a beautiful location not far fron Beeston Castle and Peckforton Castle. The interior does not quite match the stunning exterior but is very comfortable and relaxing. The Spa was used by one of the party and was said to be excellent. Bedroom was large and... More

Stayed for one night for a getaway . This is a beautiful building with loads of character and an interesting history. Our room was warm and cozy with a comfy bed and clean bathroom with plenty of hot water. We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent with generous portions and we'll prepared locally sourced food. Breakfast was... More

We stayed here for 2 nights this week and loved it. Our room was not one of the trendy ones advertised but it was a great room. It was full of charm with a huge comfy bed & lots of added extras to make you feel at home...it even had a "do not disturb" cuddly puppy on the bed waiting... More

First impression is a fantastic old building oozing with character, actually no character at all, sitting in the bar area listening to staff complain to each other. We didn't eat there as the menu was half boring ie fish and chips and half pretentious. Breakfast was nice self service, however again listened to a member of staff saying how overworked... More
