Guy and his team of Debra, Lana, Phil (who I all met) seemed to really care about their customers doing what they could to ensure they were happy, comfortable, well fed, good ale available etc.. I got local, advice too which helped me with route planning, glad I stayed.

Struck first by cosy bar with open fire, and great range of beers on hand pump. Mordue Cascade was lovely. It was a bank holiday and we hadn't booked for food, but they fitted us in and food was great. Sweet potato, spinach and chick pea curry was delicious, partner enjoyed his game pie. Loved the place, will definitely go...

We read the reviews and gave it a try as the front does not draw you in. A little fem of a place. Friendly, cosy and a great menu. We had carnivores, veggies and vegans in our party of 6 and everyone had a good range of food and enjoyed what arrived. The vegan chick pea, sweet potato and spinach...

My family have just enjoyed an excellent walking holiday in Alston and one of our highlights was a trip to the "Cumberland Inn". The welcome from the landlord was warm and friendly which set the tone for the evening. I enjoyed ales from Yates and Mordue breweries (the latter was exceptional) They also have a good range of real ciders...

I visit the Cumberland Inn a couple of times a year just for food. I eat in the bar rather than the restaurant and it is always okay. In fact last visit they served me the finest piece of local lamb I have ever tasted. It genuinely brought a tear to my eye.

A good place for a couple of days in Alston, great views out of a deceptively large room at the rear of the hotel (being an Inn) .A good breakfast and nice bar area with a nice real fire on a cold evening. Staff nice and friendly and would stay again !

I stayed at the Cumberland Hotel for one night B&B as I was working in the area. The Hotel staff were friendly and pleasant. The bedroom was large and comfortable with tea/coffee facilities. Yes, maybe the room and bathroom could do with a spruce up but it was clean and functional. I had a great nights sleep and the breakfast...

Stayed at this hotel with my husband on his birthday. The welcome was warm and inviting, all the staff were lovely and helpful. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and spacious. Lots of lovely touches hot chocolate, toiletries etc in the room. Made our stay very special. The food there was amazing. I couldn't recommend this hotel high enough. Will be...

We came in about 17:00 on Wednesday for dinner. Promptly greeted by the bartender and then it went down hill. He totally ignored us. We should have been wise as the couple next to us (who got sat earlier) got up and left. So we waited, made eye contact with the bartender several times, who was not busy but just...
