This was a long-awaited trip for me. I'd kept looking at Black Sail, but never got the opportunity to go. When it finally came, it didn't disappoint! If you want a total disconnection from the world, you'll find it here. It's great. P.S. Have the...More

Popped in on the off chance while out on the bikes for a brew Lovely place, brilliant retreat, the people staying there and the lady who looks after the place were most welcoming. Could easily be the best YHA in the UK.

Stayed here for two nights in early September, and the Wardens were great! Very friendly, accommodating, helpful and upbeat. Ended up ordering meals both nights since I didn't bring food to cook, and it was well worth it (think others who cooked themselves were a...More

    Hotel description
Location, location, location. YHA Black Sail has it. Remote and accessible only on foot, it’s a rural retreat that lovers of the great outdoors can normally only dream about. Located in a traffic-free valley that is being returned to a ‘wild’ state, it’s as tranquil as a stay in the Lakes gets.

Hi. There are 2 toilets but only one has a mirror (helpful for those shaving!). There is one shower which has plenty of hot water. My advice is to shower first then enjoy the views as there can be a queue!

No drops at all, it's a woodland path from the car park or YHA Ennerdale. Hope that helps Andy
