One of our convenient stops on the Coast to Coast walk. Accommodation is tidy, clean, and nice furnishings. Rooms were very good size, and beds comfortable. Food choice and quality was very good and packed lunch choice was good. The meal we had in the restaurant was good and we all enjoyed the food.

Great food and a great variety of Gin! Recommended to all for a great day or night. Would love to return. The salmon was cooked to perfection and there was no shortage of new gins to try. Opening times are great and within the scope of most country public houses.

Stayed for one night on my coast to coast walk. After a challenging first day with a gale force headwind it was a joy arrive to a warm welcome and cosy single room with a view of fields and river. I had a private bathroom which was just outside my room which had just been beautifully upgraded with a wonderful...

We stopped here during a very wet and cold bike ride desperately in need of a cup of tea and an opportunity to warm up. Despite the fact that they were busy and full and that we were covered in mud they accommodated us and made us feel very welcome.

The staff at the pub made our group of 16 very welcome. Service was excellent and attentive, thank you. Food very good and tasty especially the lovely home made desserts and the sheep chocolates were appreciated. Very good place to eat after a day walking in the rain.

Called in the wife and I for an evening meal. We didn't book and on entering found the pub to be very busy. We were shown to one of the two remaining tables and given menus and drinks ordered. I choose a main of Cumberland sausage and the wife went for butternut squash burger. After a short wait our food...

Quiet February Friday evening and we were looking for a venue for a rare meal out minus the kids, couldn't have chosen better. Found the service excellent, reasonable menu choice including veggie /vegan choices and great prices - will definitely be back for a return visit next time we're in the lakes

After walking 28 kms from St. Bees, this was our first stop on our Coast to Coast journey, and it was a very welcome sight. Shepherds Arms is a large traditional British pub with a great busy atmosphere, many of the patrons being fellow C2C walkers. Diana, the host, was friendly and helpful, the room was large and comfortable and...

Called into the Shepherds Arms after a walk & had a really tasty pub lunch. My husband had roast beef whilst I had the steak & ale pie. Good size slab of pie with traditional pastry top & the steak was very tender with lots of rich ale based gravy. Husband said beef was delicious & good portion of nicely...
