We had lunch here today after visiting the Swinside Stone Circle. Low oak beams and local brews on tap. I had the fish and chips, crispy and tasty. Others in the party enjoyed their meals, too. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Fabulous food with fun and friendly staff. Stayed for a week or two whilst working in the area and cannot fault the service I received. Would certainly return if I have work in this area in the future. The breakfast was perfect.

It started well with a clean pleasant room, tasty meal but then hearts sank as the live band arrived after 9pm. The cosy pub became the venue of a rock concert. After an amazing time out in the fresh air we were set for an early night . It wasn't to be, with beds vibrating from the noise till after...

We ate at the Black Cock twice whilst on a recent holiday staying in the village. Both evenings were a great success, food was good quality, well prepared and hearty. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Keeps a good pint!!!!

The only place to get food in the area so it was busy. The food came quickly and they served the children first which was good. The food was very good and well presented with mushy peas in a really cute miniature pan and chips in a metal bucket. Well worth a a visit and the staff were pleasant and...

Last October four adults called here for lunch. This October we each took our partners. You have got to try the hot meat bagette. You will find these on the "light bites" menu. They are not for the faint hearted. Two of our party had one to share between them. While you are there have a taste of their guest...

As a party of 4 we stayed for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed this typically English country inn. The rooms are basic but clean and have a TV and hair dryer. Entertainment was provided on Saturday night without bursting your ear drums! Andy (the manager) even gave us a lift down to the station and back and didn't ask for...
