Having made the trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway and then spent a few hours walking the glorious countryside Brook House seemed a welcoming oasis, friendly service and reasonable food and beers in a fantastic location. The only real problem they have is that the Boot Inn is so close.

Perfectly adequate twin room with compliments tray, tv and comfy beds. Decent sized room with dressing table, wardrobe and bedside tables, 2 chairs. The bathroom is suitable with decent bath and shower. More importantly there is a drying room and it is an excellent location to start walks up the valley from. Much better than the numerous campsites around, and...

Sometimes, you just come across somewhere very special - and the Brook House Inn is definitely one of those establishments. This is a really authentic country inn, with friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable rooms with modern en-suite bathrooms, and excellent food served throughout the day/evening. I was visiting family staying at the nearby campsite, so they joined me (2...

Wonderful place to stay. Large room with space on the floor to open suitcases. The bathroom is especially large and included a modern corner bath with shower over the bath. Breakfast is very good but is not served until 8.30am. Wi-Fi is free but reception is only fair. There is an excellent, secure drying room available for guests. Friendly and...

We always make a bee-line for this pub whenever we are in Eskdale, which is quite frequent as we live in the NW lakes and love this delightful valley. This time we took three Australian friends to lunch there, and they were delighted with our choice. The food was as great as ever, the menu really extensive with something to...

This place is just fantastic ! Great local ales & the food is just superb !! We ate here 3 times in the week we stayed in Boot. The moment we walked in the door to see if we could book a table for 6, the atmosphere was really welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and had a lovely (sneaky)...

We were staying at eskdale campsite and went here a couple times for some dinner. Lovely food and dog friendly too. Downside is there menu is trying to be a bit upmarket when a lot of people just want pub grub. As it is a more pub environment than a posh restaurant. I was disappointed not to of seen gammon...

This pub was a welcome site after a long walk on a very sunny day. The food was the best pub food I have tasted. All of our meals (2 kids + 2 adults) were well presented and hot. We all cleared our plates. I can definitely recommend the spinach and feta cheese pie.

We stayed here in May. The pub is very good and bedrooms comfortable and well maintained. The food is to a better standard than the usual pub grub. We were walking and it being the lakes, got wet. The pub has a drying room for guests which was very useful! The only negatives were the dance type music in the...

We have been visiting the Brook House Inn during the last week whilst staying at a local self catering cabin. We have been calling in later in the evening for a drink, and have always been made very welcome. The beer (Langdale) has been kept very well and goes down a treat. We also have had two evening meals, and...
