Can't really understand why this place doesn't feature in TA as a restaurant. As with so many Lakeland pubs, the standard of cooking is far above pub grub. The menu offers just enough choice with a few specials as well. We loved the smoked venison starter, pheasant with it's perfectly judged accompaniment of red cabbage and a mustard sauce, and...

Warm and welcoming staff, bar area a bit lacking in atmosphere but restaurant area very tastefully done. Good range of dishes on the menu, not cheap but good food, well presented and tasty. Person serving did very well working through the menu and discussion with the chef, options for gluten free, and adjusted an ordered dish accordingly. Rather a small...

Like many visitors we return often. The food is good, the welcome warm and the entire family (including teddy bears!) is well looked after. It is wonderful to be able to take many different walks from the front door.

We had an excellent meal. Fantastic Steak and Ale pie and our kids said the fish goujons were very tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious and a very generous portion. The staff serving us were friendly and very helpful. We would love to return.

Came by this pub this week walking from Skelwith Bridge to Little Langdale- great choice of beers, ales and non-alcoholic drinks. It was a shame that it had just turned 2pm and had stopped serving food. Nonetheless, my teenage kids enjoyed some afternoon cakes. Lovely views. We'll definitely return before 2pm if we're doing that walk again.

We visited to book a table for the following evening for 8 people for supper at 7pm to be told they were busy and can you come at 6pm. We changed our booking the following day to 730pm and it was very quiet despite great location. All a bit strange. Service average. Interior decor poor and functional and in need...

Well there's nowt so funny as folk... We find it odd that you did not feel able to pass these comments on to us directly, especially as you enjoyed drinks in the bar on subsequent evenings. We are very short staffed (like most of the Hospitality industry in our area) so try to ease pressure over the busy Easter Holidays...

My husband and I set off on a beautiful sunny day for the Hodge Close walk. Around half way through the walk takes you past this perfectly placed pub. The beer garden is beautifully landscaped though slightly on a hill, due to the stunning langdales. Slate and grass with plenty of tables and a small area under cover at the...

We booked this pub as in the middle of nowhere and looking for peace and quiet, walking from the door and to escape and that is what we got in droves. A long drive after work on Friday but as soon as we arrived - drink in had in the bar - we relaxed. So peaceful - really enjoyed our...

Staying locally, we had dinner here tonight. The food was delicious however, we must mention our waiter, Klaus, newly arrived from Latvia. What an asset, calm and so pleasant as we 'grilled' him over his journey to Little Langdale..a great ambassador for his employers. A terrific experience. Oh, and everyone else was lovely too!

Just spent a week in Little Langdale, the Three Shires is a warm welcoming pub/restaurant. Ate here numerous times during the visit, each time with our dog and each occasion the food was great. Local produce, local beer. We were made to feel welcome, great friendly service, what more could you ask for.
