The Golden Lion in Maryport is a fine hotel right on the harbor. We had an upgraded room with a view of the harbor. The room was very nice and roomy with a few extras like a fruit basket, robes, and bottled water. Very comfortable bed, nice large bathroom and quiet as soon as the football game crowd at the...

My friend and I had about 90 minutes to visit Maryport between trains and fancied some lunch and a pint of real ale. We had been recommended to visit the Lifeboat Inn which was busy but had no ale on, so stuck for choices, we crossed the road to the Golden Lion and were pleasantly surprised to find a decent...

I stayed in a single room for one night. The room itself was perfectly nice. Clean and simply decorated. The bed really could have been better. It was very squeaky and the mattress was lumpy and badly needs replaced. My room had a small vestibule style area with a motion sensor light. However this went off every time I moved...

We stopped here for our evening meal. The best thing about the Golden Lion is the exceptional service. A blonde lady served us and she was friendly, professional and efficient! The food was nice and we enjoyed sitting in the hotel style restaurant which had an excellent WiFi signal. It was cosy and warm and we would go back.

Lovely hotel, great staff, very convenient for getting about locally in Maryport, and the best breakfast for sure... but... very little in the way of soundproofing. I was in Room 5, don't book this room if you like peace. Noise from bar below until chucking out time as the bar is open to non-residents, and the family room is located...

The Golden Lion has been refurbished and has a lovely spacious bar and dining areas .Ideally located near the seafront it is a beautiful setting for lunch. Staff extremely friendly and attentive and the food was...

Loved this hotel. Staff were all so friendly and attentive. The room was bright and clean. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Only downside was that we were only there for one night. We would love to have stayed for a second

My company booked this for me as it was close to an engineering business that I was visiting. Maryport has a very run down look to it and is in need of some investment or regeneration which was a bit of a shame. The hotel was having bits done to it on my arrival so was in a bit of...

Room (3) is a nice size although the bathroom is a little on the small size The shower took a long time to set a constant temperature and was not very powerful There is nowhere to put the towels, the room...
