Popped in here after a long day climbing scafell pike. Hoped to get food here but as we got in late all food had been sold out. Went elsewhere then returned for a drink. Pub brews it's own ale which was enjoyed by some of our party. I stuck to my normal cider. Pub itself was full and a great...

A walker recommended this pub and the one opposite it, as we were heading to Wasdale Head. It is located in the pretty little village of Nether Wasdale. We parked in the street by the village green. Compared to the pub opposite, which has nothing to invite you except a no food served in the day sign, this one has...

Lovely old pub with lots of character selling delicious food and real ales and surrounded by stunning scenery. A true gem of the Beautiful English Lake District and not as touristy as other parts of Cumbria.

We have just returned from a weekend at The Strands Inn. The location is perfect, off the beaten track and close to Wastwater. We've been looking for a long time for somewhere in the Lake District with good food, plenty of atmosphere and a homely feel for a reasonable price and finally we've found it! Although there are plenty of...

Stayed for weekend break in the hotel and dinner in the restaurant. What an amazing place - lovely staff, great beer and the food was surprisingly good! There are a lot of those new-type gastro-pubs in the lakes which are just, frankly, expensive, soul-less, and disappointing. This place, on the other hand, is authentic, cosy, and friendly - wholeheartedly recommended!...

The Strands is a small 18th century hotel and welcoming pub with home cooked food service set in one of the most beautiful parts of Cumbria - just 5 minutes drive from Wasdale and Scafell Pike, and only 10 minutes by car from the coast. The hotel is owned and managed by Mark who is also the brewer, and excellent...
