I made a reservation with this hotel for a trip and when i needed to cancel, as another member of my party had booked somewhere else, they charged me £50 for the pleasure, as the cancellation policy was unclear. However, i have sent about 4 emails now and not received a response at all. It would appear their attitude is...

We called in at this establishment for luch last week, it was almost half past two in the afternoon the place was empty. We were told we had 2 minuets to choose what we wanted and this we did, I wish we had turned around and left. We ordered sandwiches that came with chips which must have been refried a...

This is a pleasant inn with great character and, apart from the tele in the corner of the bar, it feels like you have travelled back in time. A few cobwebs in the window sills do not really detract from the general cleanliness of the bar area. The ploughman's lunch was ok but what really disappointed me was overhearing a...

Stayed on Friday 12/06/15, party of 9 completing a cycle coast to coast from Seascale to Whitby. Met & greeted by our hosts Kaz & Cathy, very friendly. All rooms clean, tidy and nicely decorated, with en suites, TV's & WIFI. Had evening meal, extensive choice of starters, mains & desserts, with big portions, all of which were excellent. Breakfast...

Called without booking, we were welcomed and offered a table. The food was beautiful. The three of us ordered guinea fowl in a lovely cream sauce stuffed with haggis and wrapped in bacon. This was served with new potatoes (probably need to order vegatables as I ate my son's salad) and was absolutely wonderful. My husband had Lamb hotpot with...

Second time we've stayed. Beautiful location, fabulous food cooked to perfection and warm comfortable rooms. Planning our next visit having only been home 2 days. If you want remote this is it with a warm welcome.

Terrible place, very smelly & dirty. Not made welcome despite remote location. Did not really fancy eating there but nothing else locally unless we went into Hawes. Rooms very poor & untidy & not something you would expect with a trip advisor rating

A really friendly and comfortable place to stay. Super comfortable and quiet room. Absolutely excellent selection of food including many vegetarian options, top quality. We really enjoyed our dinner, in a relaxed, friendly and cosy restaurant and bar. We definitely recommend it and will stay there again. Thank you!

We stayed just for one night over the bank holiday. Due to the traffic we arrived late but were warmly welcomed, the rooms were nicely decorated clean and comfortable. We just disappointed that we didn't get there soon enough to have our dinner there. We would stay again next time we are in the area.

Stayed for one night last minute with wife and 2 teenage girls in family room - Catherine and Kaz were so welcoming and we had a great evening. Very animal friendly and our dog Gem made himself at home in front of the log fire in the bar. Bedroom was very comfortable with everything we needed. Great breakfast. Will definitely...
