Visited this traditional old style pub for a couple of nights with the other half's extended family. At first glance you wouldn't think it looks up to much but that's only because it's an old style traditional village pub, but Steve and Lucy, the hosts were very friendly and accommodating! The open fire ensures the place is warm and inviting.... More

I spent 2 nights at the red lion on a weekend walking trip with my 17year old son. We had a very friendly welcome, the twin room was small but cosy, well- equipped (tv, tea and coffee, good shower) and very clean. The food was also excellent (breakfast, supper and a packed lunch on the Sunday). Will definitely return here... More

We have just returned from spending one night at The Red Lion. The owners Steve and Lucy made us feel very welcome and were both really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Our evening meal was delicious and breakfast was plentiful, so much so that we didn't eat again until the evening!!... More

Found the Red Lion although sat nav couldn't, very warm welcome, Room clean, comfy and warm despite storm outside. No noise heard from the busy bar (we were in room 3). Had evening meal in pub, portions on the large side and a bit pricey for plain pub grub. Breakfast again large portion, could not fault Steve and Lucy for... More

Welcomed by the Owners Steve and his wife Lucy and also by all the locals and other guests too. Breakfast was excellent, dinners were good home made pub food and one day we asked for a packed lunch to take on a walk on the hills and that was excellent too. Better than average collection of beers and wines (one... More

Recommended from holiday cottage within 5 miles. Almost passed it as building is not on the main road and didn't look much from outside but very welcoming service, dog-friendly and yummy lunch. We had cumberland sausage and fish pie, all meals lovely, filling and great value!
