We were cycling the Bay cycle route and spent 1 night in the Virginia House Bed and Breakfast in Ulverston , we found the staff extremely helpful, the room was clean and had a comfortable bed with an ensuite shower and bath. The bar specialised in gin with over 80 different gins from all over the world to suit every...

I am reluctant to write this review but the team deserve it. From the welcome on arrival until the departure I was made to feel welcome. Fine dining in the restaurant, a real treat, a choice of a la carte or a sampler menu . Breakfast served with a smile and kept me going all the way home. I am...

We had an overnight at Virginia House and an evening meal. The rooms were very nice, clean, pleasant décor. The staff were welcoming. The food was very nice although there was quite a long wait between courses. They have a separate bar area and Gin parlour. We had a great nights sleep. Breakfast (full Cumbrian) was lovely which set us...

This family business styles itself as a restaurant with rooms and it must be a good restaurant as it was fully booked on the mid-week night I stayed. This was not a problem as I was going out and there are plenty of eating places in the vicinity. My room was compact but very well organised and had everything one...

We are in bed in room 1a overlooking the back of the house. For over an hour at regular intervals, bottles are being dropped into a bin, smashing against other glass bottles. We are trying to sleep and each bottle being dropped in is disturbing us going to sleep. I asked the person if it could be done in the...

We stayed at this hotel for a week. The owners are gradually refurbishing the whole hotel to a really good standard. All public areas are complete and they are now working through the rooms. Our room had been refurbished and was really lovely. The only (minor) negatives were the slightly weird wardrobe/mirror/shelf unit, and it was also a shame that...

Had a nice stay at the Virgina House, arrived late and forgot my voucher but made to feel welcome. Room was really nice and comfy, it had just been re-decorated. The bar is small and was crowded but tried one of the gins, it was nice. Agree with other reviewers parking is a problem. Breakfast was very nice. The hotel...

I stayed one night bed and breakfast. The room I had was clean and tidy and the bed was really comfy. The only annoying thing was the shower was tiny ! Im not a big person but I couldn't move in it without the shower curtain getting stuck on me . The cooked breakfast was lovely and there was a...

Lovely helpful staff, clean and spacious room with a lovely bathroom. The food was fantastic, our evening meal was spectacular and we will be visiting again if just to eat. The gin bar was very well stocked and the barmaid was knowledgeable she helped us puck some new gins to try that were delicious.
