Well, what can you say? You turn up -and we were not the only ones- expecting a place to e open... the website gives the hours and it was half an hour after the opening time advertised. The A-board was out in the road.... If for whatever reason a pub cannot open, you'd expect a notice on the door saying...

Hi there, thanks for your review. We were closed due to a family bereavement and did not think to put a sign on the door. Please accept our apologies.

We booked for twelve people so they should have been able to cope. We waited an hour or more for food. The beef was cold and tough. By the time they offered some "chef this one's cooked better" we were off. Chips and pie were good though.in fact very good chips

We stayed here for two nights whilst our more adventurous friends were camping in the campsite over the road, also owned by the Square & Compass. The owner and bar managers were all really helpful and happy to accommodate a vegan diet for breakfast (they provided soya milk and checked ingredients, plus kindly purchased a packet of Linda McCartney sausages)....

We struggled to find any campsites available in the area over the bank holiday, so we were pretty lucky to find this one! At £12/tent a night I thought it was very reasonable, as some were quoting £20+ for the bank holiday! Having said that, I have to agree with the previous review that only having 2 toilets with showers...

Camping Review. The good parts Lovely Views Nice river. The bad parts Grass too long, needs cutting. Facilities, dire Two toilets which contain two showers, completely inadequate for the amount of campers. Dirty toilets, floor disgusting, needs cleaning often. Water point, this is grubby and off putting in corner of the site. Pub - Busy Bank Holiday Weekend, pub closed...

We camped for 4 nights.. the cost is average for the area, The toilets and showers were adequate but could probably do with cleaning twice a day when the weather is rainy, simply because of the mud tracked in.. We has several pints and meals at the pub and these were fantastic as is the landlord. A very warm welcome...

I camp a lot. As a hiker I camped from Land's End to John o'Groats and I'm pretty happy if there's a flat bit of grass and a toilet. I found this place to be a lowenough standards even to get to me. There are two toilets only for the entire field of campers, not that the guy at the...

After being let down by another local pub, I rang ahead to make sure food was still being served and that there wasn't a huge waiting time (the pubs campsite was very busy). We arrived created by very happy pleasant staff and chose to sit in the conservatory area looking over the fields. We chose our food and were amazed...

We stayed overnight using the camping facilities. It was a Sunday so we couldn't get any food (we arrived at 7pm) but had been told this before we arrived. On the plus side there was a good hard standing for our van and the barmaid was friendly. Sadly though it wasn't the best site we've been to. The bins were...
