Great place, directly attached to the small pub, good range of cask ales, food was superb and served in a separate seated area next to the bar although you can also eat in the bar, breakfasts are perfect and served by a lovely team of ladies, bar staff are also spot on and couldn't be more helpful, rooms are very clean and tidy with tea/coffee facilities...

What a great lunch I had at the Red Lion last week - delicous home made pie (mushroom and asparagus for me, steak and ale for my daughter), the best mash I've ever had, peas and a gravy boat full of lovely gravy. The rest of the menu looked really good, we will definitely be going again. Good honest food...

We came here about 4 years ago and it was great, so we came back. It is still as good. It's a tad quirky, but so what. Check in at the bar, and it works fine (you don't need a reception desk, do you)? Be prepared ... the approach to the rooms is a bit 'tired', but hec, so what...

We were a bit worried on arrival. The hotel ( pub) looked a bit run down and the approach to the rooms did nothing to ease our worries. I had booked a double room and a twin. We saw the double first and all was well. The twin room didn't disappoint either. Both the rooms were spotless with a good...

Went recently just for a drink as the festival was on. Great range of drinks with even though busy it was a good atmosphere. The staff were great, the layout of the pub was good also with really comfy seats. Would happily go back

Went as a family of 7 including a toddler and had to sit through our food listening to foul language and violent behaviour from drunk locals who were very intimidating. There was one man in particular who could not even stand yet they were still serving him alcohol which is completely wrong! No apology for there behaviour from waitresses. Food...

Poor rooms with pokey en suite facilities. There was noise from the bar and external air conditioning across from the window added to the cacophony. So bad we, and our friends, didn't even stay and, not through choice, forfeited the cost.

Just checked into our room, room number 7, a smell hit us as soon as we entered, ceiling in the corner is all cracked, wall paper falling off the ceiling, very disappointed to say the least. The whole hotel is very tired and in need of renovation. Checking in was a joke, just waiting around in a alcohol scented lounge...

We were looking for somewhere clean, comfortable and friendly for an overnight stay and this place definitely delivered. It is quite clearly a very old building but has been cared for and retains a lot of charm. The bedroom was very clean and well appointed and the bathroom was small but well equipped with an excellent shower. It is nice...
