Unfortunately , this resort has been closed for a number of years. It closed before Cyclone Yasi and was hit by the full force of the cyclone. in recent years it has also suffered a fire some of the remaining building and there is very little left. We hiked into the area and camped. It's a stunning part of the...

Two nights spent at the Hinchinbrook Wilderness Lodge was one night too many. For those wanting to get away from it all the Wilderness Lodge is probably just the ticket however there was next to no activities and one can only bushwalk for so long. So.....what else was there to do. Staying with my husband and two kids aged 14...

You can walk the trails and return on the ferry. Alternatively, if you have the motivation, you can also walk the Thorsborne trail instead ( a 4 day hike and you must be...

Truly lovely, the highlight of our trip to queensland. A very small informal helpful group of staff run this lovely nature lovers resort that is friendly and full of natural beauty not glamorous or ritzy. Our newly upgraded tree houses were warm wooden finishes, pleasant leafy beach views clean and well furnished. Fantastic safe resort swimming beach where you can...

Our stay at Hinchinbrook was the highlight of our Queensland vacation. We were there for two nights, which really stretched into three pretty full days: the 9AM ferry that brings you to the island doesn't return to Cardwell until 4PM. Note: if you are arriving from Cairns, you will need to overnight on the way to Cardwell. We did so,...

The only resort on a national park island, this is a special place - the accomodation is 20 years old, and needs a little bit of TLC, but the away from it all feelings gradually take over, and when we emerged just 3 days later, it felt as though we had been away for 2 weeks! Staff are excellent, and...
